Monday Morning Talkback: Let's Hear About Rio
Congratulations to the gang behind Rio, which cemented its burgeoning global superpower over the weekend with the biggest domestic opening of the year to date: $40 million, give or take a few bucks when the dust clears today. That kind of showing can only mean one thing: Time for a Monday Morning Talkback!
You've read the review and the box-office postmortem, and now that America has officially welcomed with open arms and/or wallets, it's time to answer a few questions:
· We know it was popular. But was it good?
· Is Jesse Eisenberg suited for voice talent?
· After this hit and the massive success of its Ice Age franchise, where does Blue Sky Studios fall among Pixar, DWA and other Hollywood animation juggernauts?
· What should we call the imminent sequel?
...Among others! The floor is open!

This is really just Ice Age 4. Lots of different creatures running from other different creatures. It was perfectly fine, but after a year that gave us Toy Story 3, How to Train Your Dragon, Despicable Me and Megamind, you've got to up your game. This was just warmed-over Disney... actually even Tangled was far better than this.
