UPDATE: Nicolas Cage Arrested For Domestic Abuse After Allegedly Taunting Cops

TMZ is reporting that Nicolas Cage was arrested early Saturday morning in New Orleans and charged with one count of domestic abuse and one count of disturbing the peace. The identity of the victim is unknown and no other details are available at this time but we'll keep you up to date as this story unfolds. TMZ is now reporting that a "very drunk" and belligerent Cage was loudly arguing with his wife, Alice Kim, on the streets of New Orleans. A cab driver passed by the fighting couple and called the police; in addition to the screaming and yellow, the cabbie also claims that he saw Cage push his wife.

When police responded to the scene and told Cage and his wife to return to their home, Cage refused and allegedly told the cops, "Why don't you just arrest me?" Police asked Cage again to go home and Cage again dared the police to arrest him.

And so the police arrested him and charged him with domestic abuse and disturbing the peace. Don't play chicken with the cops, Nic! It never ends well.

Cage is still reportedly in custody and is awaiting a bail hearing; luckily for him, his wife is not a complaining witness, does not want him charged and claims there was no physical contact.

This of course is not the first time that Nicolas Cage has had a very public freakout, but it appears that New Orleans takes their peace and quiet a little more seriously than Romania.

2ND UPDATE 12:00 PDT: Cage is free after posting $11,000 bail. Police have revealed that he and his wife got into a screaming match over where their rental house was located. Cage thought it was one place, his wife thought another and Cage allegedly grabbed her arm to take her to the "correct" address; police reported that were no "visible signs of injury" to his wife's arm.

The New Orleans PD also say that Cage began to bang on parked cars and tried to get into a taxi, when police arrived. They ordered him out of the taxi, he taunted the cops, and that where we came in on the movie.

For those keeping track at home, this is the second time real estate has apparently brought ruin to Nicolas Cage.
