VIDEO: First Look at Ape from Rise of The Planet of the Apes

The makers of Rise of The Planet of the Apes may have caught some flack for that mush-mouthy title, but if this new clip is any indication, they certainly won't get mocked for the visual effects. At least for four seconds, anyway. Click ahead to see your first (extremely short) look at the WETA-produced motion capture work from the James Franco-led film. Don't blink!

That may or may not be Ceasar (played by mo-cap genius and new second unit director Andy Serkis), the former titular ape who is at the heart of the new film. Pretty cool detail, no? Now just repeat that for 6,000 seconds and everything will be golden.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes hits theaters on Aug. 5
