Javier Bardem May Finally Saddle Up for The Dark Tower, and 6 Other Stories You'll Be Talking About Today

· Coming soon to NBC: Javier Bardem! Maybe. The Oscar winner is apparently thisclose to completing a deal with Universal to lead the somewhat crazy-sounding adaptation of The Dark Tower. If everything goes to plan Bardem will play Roland Deschain for director Ron Howard in the ambitious undertaking of bringing Stephen King's source work to the big and small screen; The Dark Tower will not only include three films, but also two "limited run" television series set to air between each theatrical endeavor. (That was bananas when it was announced last fall, and is still bananas now.) Anyway! This is great casting, and if Howard and friends can pull The Dark Tower off, it will be quite the feat of labor. Fingers crossed, friendo. [Deadline]

· Speaking of ambitious undertakings: Tina Fey is expecting for the second time! While taping a segment for The Oprah Winfrey Show, Fey announced that she was five months pregnant. The 30 Rock star already has one daughter with husband Jeff Richmond. [People]

· Remember all the pomp and circumstance surrounding, The Governator, the cartoon series that will mark Arnold Schwarzenegger's post-gubernatorial return to entertainment? Bad news: No one seems to care. "I was hoping he'd be back with an action series or another film -- that's what the market wants," a "veteran European buyer" told THR. "But a cartoon? That's a hard sell, especially since it's not even in 3D." Said an American sales executive: "They'll get it made, no doubt, but will they be able to sell it? This has been an amazing marketing blitz. This project has been reported more widely than any series I've ever seen. But they've set the bar very high. Now they have to deliver." He'll be back? · Tons of casting news for you this morning: Oscar winner James Marsh has lined up Clive Owen and Andrea Riseborough to lead his next film, an untitled thriller about the "peace process in Northern Ireland in the nineties." [Vulture]

· Jay Baruchel will co-star with Robert Pattinson and Paul Giamatti in David Cronenberg's adaptation of Don DeLillo's Cosmopolis. [Deadline]

· Rob Riggle will co-star in 21 Jump Street. Can Paul Scheer be far behind? [THR/Heat Vision]

· Finally, in non-casting news: Walter Hill may replace Wayne Kramer on the Sylvester Stallone film Headshots. Not a bad trade off, if it happens. [Deadline]
