New Black Swan Behind-the-Scenes Clip Shows Special Effects of Natalie Portman's Performance
Now that ballerina Sarah Lane has jeopardized the legacy of Natalie Portman's Oscar-winning flaps and caws in Black Swan, everyone on Team Portman seems hellbent on making this controversy go away -- even Mila Kunis! New video of the digital facial replacement technology that made Natalie's difficult swanning possible has surfaced, however, meaning that may be harder than anticipated.
Looks very similar to the work David Fincher did in The Social Network. Movieline posted a version of this backstage glimpse here before the Internet stole it back, and it's apparent that Portman did put a lot of effort into her role. Right. I'm not entirely sure how necessary it was for her to learn all the moves in an average Degas exhibition, but director Darren Aronofsky has long claimed that Portman's commitment to the role went above and beyond his expectations. Can we leave it at that? Forever? I'm ready to enjoy Bjork's wardrobe again.

This film just confirms what Portman's defenders have already admitted: that Lane acted as her double for the more difficult pirouettes and full-body scenes. I guess until they show us the original, unaltered footage of every dancing scene in the film, we won't know for sure.
No, this proves that Portman is a liar. What are you, blind? Where is the footage of Portman actually dancing. This also proves that what Aronofsky said was a lie too. That she danced the entire prologue.
I've seen footage that confirms Robert Patrick is NOT made of liquid metal. For shame, Robert Patrick.
Not sure I understand what is the big deal. So she didn't dance everything by her own, so she used body replacement. Seriously, no one expects from Portman to dance like pro ballerina.
And dancing is not acting. Acting is facial expressions, dialogs, working inside the character, etc. That emotional investment into character no body replacement can provide, this was all Portman herself. And this is why she won the Oscar, not because she learned how to move in ballet, but because she provided hardcore emotional experience with her mind and eyes.
Sara Lane deserve recognition, and producers made a mistake not to mention her, but it doesn't mean anything.
P.S: I wonder if they had body replacements in the sex scene.
I thought everyone knew it wasn't her. You could tell just by looking at the body. When doing any difficult dancing the muscles were larger and more defined than Portman's. Why the hoopla? Hollywood's been doing this forever. Just watch Jean Harlow's 'dancing' in RECKLESS.
Where's the footage of Portman claiming she didn't have a double and Aronofsky saying she danced the whole prologue?
And I'm near-sighted, but I wear very good contacts.
By the way, footage of Portman dancing:
