Friday Box Office: Sucker Punch Barely Wrestles Away Box Office Crown From Wimpy Kid
Well, it seems like we might have a real horse race going here. Despite our predictions that Zack Snyder's CGI onslaught would handily win the weekend, Sucker Punch barely fended off the merciless assault from a kids' movie sequel. In fact, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Roderick Rules might yet come out on top for the weekend once the lucrative Sunday matinee money comes rolling in, but for now it settled for number two. Who do you think is more nervous for those final numbers -- Snyder himself or the producers behind his new Superman? Your Friday box office is here.
1. SUCKER PUNCH: $8,000,000 (new)
2. DIARY OF A WIMPY KID: RODERICK RULES: $7,300,000 (new)
3. LIMITLESS: $4,600,000 ($30,600,000)
4. THE LINCOLN LAWYER: $2,900,000 ($20,900,000)
5. RANGO: $2,300,000 ($98,800,000)

sucker punch WINNER DUUUHHH !!!!
I'm hoping Wimpy Kid wins. I loved Zack's remake of "Dawn of the Dead" - I thought it was far better and a million times scarier than the original. But "300" was one of the most boring action movies I've ever seen. Every single fight scene seemed as if it could be interchangeable. It was all style and action without any meaning. "Watchmen" was a far too faithful retelling that had no heart (and I understand changing the ending, but I think that actually hurt the movie in the end). And this one just looks like a bunch of interchangeable fight scenes without any heart or meaning.
So yeah, "Wimpy" for the win.
