Battle Royale! Who Are The Best Boys To Play Peeta And Gale In The Hunger Games?
As the embers from the Jennifer Lawrence casting inferno die down, director Gary Ross is ready to turn his attention to the boys. Ross is reportedly testing out his Hunger Game hopefuls with previously cast Lawrence to see who has the right spark. Weeds's Hunter Parrish and X-Men: First Class' Lucas Till are among those in the running for Peeta, the baker's son, while Liam "My brother is Thor" Hemsworth and Falling Skies' Drew Roy are amongst those up for huntsman Gale. We've sized up the pros and the cons or each candidate below but who are your ideal boys for your dream Hunger Games cast?

Hunter Parrish -- PRO: You can easily see Katniss falling for him CON: Possibly too ripped to be the underdog?
Josh Hutcherson - PRO: Right age at 18, possibly the best actor of this bunch CON: Not blond
Evan Peters - PRO: Definitely sympathetic CON:Is he too geeky to set hearts aflutter?
Alexander Ludwig - PRO: Right age at 19. CON: Too pretty to seem like he was born into a famine-stricken wasteland.
Lucas Till - PRO: All-American looking blond CON: Is he too heroic to play the softie?
GALE
Liam Hemsworth -- PRO:Stoic stern features. CON: Too blond & too Australian.
David Henrie -- PRO: Dark features CON: Too goofy for such a serious part.
Robbie Amell -- PRO: Broody good looks. CON: A little too much like an attractive barista rather then a master hunter.
Drew Roy -- PRO: Has the mean, lean look of post-apocalyptic survivor. CON:Too short; IMDB says he's 5'9 and 3/4ths which means he's about 5'8 in heels.

I read many times of THG books, Peeta is a hero, he survives via 2 hunger games in arena and being tortured in jail, he is selfless and nice. I will pick lucas -- still young with boyish innocent, softness and some action figure to be a hero. Please lionsgate, do not make Peeta look pathetic weak and only crush on Katniss.
Hunter is too old, josh is too short.

I think Josh is the perfect choice. He is the most talented actor of the group, and I could care less that his hair isn't blond or he's "too short". On the other hand, I totally agree regarding Gale. None of those four seem like a good fit for the part.

Hunter Parrish for Peeta, absolutely. As for Gale....none of these actors fit the bill; David Henrie?!?!, seriously? (LOL!!). Lionsgate, please continue to keep looking for Gale as none of these guys look the part nor would they be able to keep up with Jennifer Lawrence in the acting department. Jennifer is a gifted actress...these guys don't have the range Jennifer has and a strong actor acting opposite a weak one is noticeable.

We all forget THG target young adults and tweens ( 13-16) Jennifer L is gift actress, oscar nominated , recognized by industry. BUT she IS not popular to tween yet. Later as mystique, she maybe popular in young adults. Lucas looks boy-next-door--likable who can also fight, good for peeta
Hunter looks like perfect blond and WEAK without personality-- no for peeta. I can not say much about the others
Too Heroic ?!, Peeta is a hero, charming & " putting the right words to speak to the crowd and win over the crowd". lucas fits.
Jennifer is rather tall at five feet, seven inches. It would be awkward for her to be paired with someone the same height or shorter. Peeta is supposed to be someone who none of the other tributes would take for granted according to Katniss. This is because he can hurl flour bags, is a great wrestler, and is a real threat in hand to hand combat. He is of medium build and broad shouldered. Let's be honest the likes of Cato and the tributes would definitely take a few of these guys for granted. Moreover Katniss is intended to be relatively small and scampers up trees. Someone they would take for granted if they didn't know her proficiency with a bow. Next to her a couple of them will look more appropriate for The Hobbit. Alexander meets those physical requirements much better than the rest. But does he have Peeta's personal qualities? If he does he should be strongly considered. Hunter would be a popular pick for more reasons than just his boyish charm or looks. I don't agree that Josh is "the best actor" as if it's a given. When was this decided? Those that say this probably don't watch Weeds. Lucas is also a good actor. I haven't seen enough of Alexander or Evan to form a solid opinion on them. They need to think about who would be the best Peeta without requiring the audience to take a leap of imagination from the character in the book to the screen. Also it's important that they pair well with Jennifer
i think Chord Overstreet would make a good peeta, hes cute/hot and he looks like an innocent baker, who falls for katniss and tries to protect her!!!!!!
Errrr umm Peeta is supposed to have muscle....he lifts bags of flour all the time....Hunter Parrish is Peeta!

Hunter or Alexander for me. They need someone that can appear naturally easygoing for Peeta. Josh is too intense. He'd make a great Gale if he were a bit taller. Lucas has the look of a Peeta but I'm not sold on him yet.

Avan Jogia! Hes 19, and he's perfect for Gale. And imdb say that he's about 6' so that's a good 5" on Jennifer. I really hope he auditioned!

Have the Glee guy audition for the role of Peeta Mellark.
All of these front liners either look younger, shorter, thinner than Jennifer.

Out of all the choices for Gale.. I think Drew Roy would be the best.
However I don't think Jennifer Lawrence would look good with any of these guys. :/

im sorry you cant change shortness. i think hunter parrish would work because he looks serious enough and soft enough but strong. and no he's not too old. Lawrence is twenty and hes twenty three. they can make him look young.
Peeta: Hunter Parrish. And one of his pro's should be his acting skills! He's fantastic in Weeds and he's great in Broadway. He has the talent.
Gale: NONE. Liam--just no. He's not ready to handle that type of role. Drew & David--Disney actors. Enough said. Robbie--haven't seen him in anything, so I can't determine whether he's a right fit or not.
i thought the same thing but he doest't look like he's from the Seam. He's too tan. but i do like him and he looks serious enuff for the part
