Here's Wes Craven With the Most Depressing Scream 4 Quote Yet
"What's your favorite scary movie?" Ghostface, I'm glad you asked. Mine's the continuing saga of Scream 4's devolution into a mutiny. Woodsboro mayor Wes Craven just confirmed that the backstage goings-on were as scary (and disheartening) as we imagined. Click through for a painful quote about the new movie from the horror master.
Wes Craven has admitted that Scream 4 does not feel like 'his' film.
The director of the franchise told followers on Twitter that he is losing control over the project because of changes in the writing team.
Scream 3 writer Ehren Kruger has been drafted in to reboot Kevin Williamson's script.
Speaking to Total Film, the horror legend said: "There was a bumpy period when things shifted over from Kevin to Ehren.
"I signed up to do a script by Kevin and unfortunately that didn't go all the way through the shooting."
He added that it is "not entirely" his film but his job is "much more bringing whatever experience and expertise and creativity I can".
You heard him. Wes Craven is disowning Scream 4 and placing the reins in Ehren Kruger's Scream 3-penning, Parker Posey-disgracing hands. I'm more alone in the house than ever, Ghostface. Come get me.

I thought they said Kevin Williamson wasn't going to be replaced by Ehren Kruger in the end.
Not only that. Ehren Kruger is the biggest hack currently at work. Everything he touches becomes crap (Transformers 2, Scream 3, Brothers Grimm, The Ring 2). The man is a menace.
Is there a single writer in Hollywood who commands less respect than Ehren Krueger? That they hired the guy who butchered Scream 3 when they finally had Kevin Williamson back in charge is ridiculous almost to the point of parody.
More ridiculous yet, they were actually shooting this thing for a few weeks without any script at all. I'm not joking. They just shot footage of ghostface chasing people round houses, with no idea how those scenes would end or even if the characters being chased would survive.
I hated Scream 3. But I am torn, because Ehren wrote one of my favorite movies of all time, Arlington Road.
How exactly did Ehren disgrace Parker Posey? context please? I'm outta the loop. Sounds like a good story...?
Looking at this list it's clear that Kruger has a talent for ruining franchises. At least there won't be a Scream 5 to worry about.
That Scream 4 even exists is the most depressing news of all.
I understand that all hail the mighty dollar and that Kruger gets work because he's part of successful films, even if they are BAD. At this point everyone knows what Kruger will offer and that it will not be good. In fact, it will be bad or at best not bad. Never good. Never great. So couldn't studios just give it to somebody who could give their product a chance at being good? Doesn't shelf live earn them more money in the long haul than an opening weekend? That's what always baffled me. Had Taxi Driver been compromised, best case scenario it could have made a lot of money in 1977 and a couple years after. Maybe. But as the film it is now, it made a little less money at the time but it's still news when it is rereleased. It still have a passionate fanbase. Most good movies do. So easy to choose to be good.
He didn't disown the movie. There was a longer version of this interview and Wes didn't sound "upset" with the movie. Also, supposedly all Ehren changed was some dialogue. Not to mention from what I heard, it was all of Kevin's ideas for Scream 3, Ehren just sketched them out, which makes perfect sense to me. He's just going to let some stranger write Scream 3 a franchise he is so close with?
He failed to write her a great death scene for one.
For me, Ehren is a great writer.... The Ring, The Skeleton Key, Scream 3 are all my favorite... Mr. Krueger is a deep-thinker, stunningly-creepy writer and I understand the style of his writing... If others don't like you Mr. Krueger, don't you worry, I'm your number one fan forever and ever, Amen!........
