VIDEO: The Indie Movie Version of Ferris Bueller's Day Off Surprisingly Similar, Affecting
· Come to think of it, Ferris Bueller's Day Off is like a coming of age indie movie -- what with the Star Wars references, museum trips and the before-their-time hipsters struck with a sense of ennui. British filmmaker Joseph Brett took advantage of this fact by recutting a trailer for the teen comedy classic with a weepy indie rock song ("A Slight Return Home" by Wood Pigeon), and the results speak for themselves. Click ahead to watch, then stick around for more Buzz Break.

Pretentious crap that does nothing but make the original film look better, and reminds everyone that movies today are as devoid of real fun as they've ever been in the history of the medium.
Wow. Very well done. It's funny how this trailer changed the tone of the movie without changing the content.
Also, humor like that found in Ferris Bueller is what's missing from comedies of today. There's no lightheartedness, no quirky fun, it's all dark, gross-out, sarcastic random humor.
Now I want to watch this movie again.
"Pretentious crap that does nothing but make the original film look better,"
Wasn't that part of the point?
this looks like a very serious film now. (very intriguing though) but there is no comedic aspects in this 'whatsoever'. it makes me want to barf up a lung.
Brett...Brett...
Perfect illustration of how that "Where the Wild Things Are?" trailer that everyone went nuts for a couple of years ago was manipulative crap.
Yes, a few commenters here seem to be missing the point - the trailer is a *parody* of a certain kind of modern movie trailer.
Nonetheless, hey, it does make you want to watch the film again. It was only in watching it a few years ago that I realised the film isn't about Ferris Bueller's day off at all - it's about Cameron Frye's day off. Ferris is just Pan. Actually, *that's* the trailer to make: Ferris Bueller IS Tyler Durden.
