Full Super 8 Trailer Is as Awesome and Spoiler-Free as You'd Hoped

I was one of the few who wasn't totally enamored with the Super 8 Superbowl spot, which felt rushed and uneven to me. Knowing full-well that my minority opinion probably caused J.J. Abrams and Steven Spielberg no grief whatsoever, I'd still like to go ahead and formally apologize, because this new full length trailer is phenomenal.

Thanks to the extra minute of running time, this trailer does a great job teasing out the film's balance of nostalgia, wonder and menace. Even better, it manages to do so without including any major new spoilers. The superstitious part of me doesn't want to jinx anything by wondering if Super 8 could be this decade's answer to thrilling, original blockbusters like Back to the Future and Ghostbusters. But then, the rest of me that just watched the trailer is totally thinking, "This might actually be as good as movies like Back to the Future and Ghostbusters!"

Anyway, enough talk. Unless you're taking the Christopher Rosen route, check it out!

Verdict: Sold

Amazingly good trailer. Got a feeling this will be my film of the year 🙂

Still too early to tell if this is any good or not. I've been fooled mightily by trailers before (The Phantom Menace). And Abrams' Star Trek definitely wasn't very good. Sticking Spielberg's name is like putting James Cameron on Sanctum.

Where's the time travel? Not sure what to think at this point. The trailer doesn't have me ready to run to see it in June.

Oddest reboot of 8mm I've ever seen.
But I guess Hollywood is getting desperate to reboot everything.
Along these lines, is there any way we can institute a moratorium on the phrase "Reboot" in the motion picture industry?
