What Should Have Happened in 2010, According to Movies
If futuristic movies were correct, we would have gotten armed, robot teachers (Class of 1999) and virtual reality that taps into our brains (Strange Days) in 1999, followed by a robot uprising in 2004 (Terminator 3). And all of that after the demise of the human population way back in 1977 (The Omega Man)! 2010 tested the prophecies of five more Sci-Fi movies and, for the most part, proved them wrong. So take a second to stop looking back on all of the horrible 2010 news and remember what movies claimed would happen this year. 2010 could have been worse! Or at least weirder.
·2010: The Year We Make Contact, 1984
Prediction: We discover a frozen moon with signs of life, more or less go to war with the Soviet Union over space things and eventually, an intelligent computer sacrifices itself for the good of man.
Did it happen? Technology sacrificing itself for mankind is up for debate, but otherwise, no dice.
·La Sonambula, 1998
The Prediction - A government experiment with chemical weapons in Buenos Aires goes haywire and erases the memory of hundreds of thousands of its citizens. The government starts a rehabilitation program to return all citizens to their families and professions...only, they may be making up these new identities entirely.
Did it happen? Doubtful. I feel like this would have made the news.

You certainly gave Coke-Zero more reasons to mock scientists in their commercials.
There's still one day left this year. I feel like at least two of these things could happen by then.
