Broadway Stars Not Very Pleased with Julie Taymor's 'Steaming Pile of Actor Crippling Sh*t'
Wondering what other Broadway actors think of the rash of injuries that have occurred during preview performances of Julie Taymor's seemingly cursed Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark? "They should put Julie Taymor in jail for assault!" wrote Rent star Adam Pascal on his Facebook page. "I know what its like to fall and get hurt in front of 2,000 people. It's no fun, but at least it was the one time it happened. I hope whoever was hurt is ok and sues the sh*t out of Julie, Bono, Edge and every other a*shole who invested in that steaming pile of actor crippling sh*t!" Well, then.
To be fair, Pascal isn't the only actor up-in-arms about the accident that landed stunt performer Christopher Tierney in the hospital with broken ribs and internal bleeding, after he fell some 30 feet on Monday night. "This is completely unacceptable and embarrassing to working actors everywhere," Next to Normal Tony winner Alice Ripley tweeted. "Does someone have to die? Where is the line for the decision-makers, I am curious."
Taymor hasn't responded to the barbs of either star, but did release the following statement.
"An accident like this is obviously heartbreaking for our entire team and of course, to me personally. I am so thankful that Chris is going to be all right and is in great spirits. Nothing is more important than the safety of our Spider-man family and we'll continue to do everything in our power to protect the cast and crew."
Everything but cancel the $65 million production. The show must go on!

"Spider-man family"? Did Taymor let it slip that there exists an entire family of human-arachnid hybrids?
That's put aside these actor-falling-down incidents and focus on the larger concern: the coming Mutant Spider Apocalypse obviously orchestrated by Julie Taymor.
Nobody wants anyone to get hurt, but it's time for a reality check. This show is a stunt spectacle attempting to take Broadway theatre to a new level of showmanship and, yes, artistry. Unfortunately, it finds itself in the position of having to iron out its wrinkles in public.
Do Alice Ripley and Adam Pascal have problems with Cirque Du Soleil as well? I appreciate the level of concern these two performers have for their fellow actors, but unless they can show reckless negligence on the part of the Spider-Man team, their comments are way out of line and demonstrate a deficient amount of artistic integrity. I think it's fair to say that Julie Taymor has proven herself to be a theatrical visionary who deserves better than the snap lynch-mob judgments these two have so harshly rendered.
I'd be interested to know how often Cirque Du Soleil performers get hurt or suffer falls. I was under the impression that their safety rating was pretty high on the whole and part of the reason their production team is hired by other companies requiring arial stunts onstage. Because they know how to do it safely.
The actors sound really angry but I can kind of see where they're coming from. It's not the first problem this production has suffered and this latest thing just seems like negligence.
Oh Spider man will continue Julie etal egos are to big to let it die.
And Remember contrary to what Julie said it's not a family. This is show BUSINESS
Greed not people will prevail.
Thank you Republicans!
PREACH!!!!
There have been numerous accidents, serious injuries, and even one death that have resulted from Cirque du Soleil shows. I tried to post links to stories about them but they got held up by this site's moderator (I assume to avoid the risk of spam). Just run a simple Google search and you'll see what I'm talking about.
How did I know that at some point in the comments that sooner or later someone was going to blame the Republicans for this situation. Adam Pascal said. "I hope whoever was hurt is ok and sues the sh*t out of Julie, Bono, Edge and every other a*shole who invested in that steaming pile of actor crippling sh*t!” Well, then." He must not have read Jim's comments because I'm sure that that along with suing Julie, Bono, Edge and every other a*shole, that Jim would also suggest suing the Republicans, maybe he even thinks that when Adam said "every other a*shole, that he was using a*shole as a cover for Republicans. No Jim, I'm not going to call you names like idiot, stupid etc. Your comment speaks for itself.
$65 Million?! What the s**t?!
