'D-Bag' Eric Braeden Responds to Neil Patrick Harris
And he didn't do it on Twitter. "His choice of words bothered me," The Young and The Restless star said to EW.com about Neil Patrick Harris' Twitter slur. "It seems to me like a young whippersnapper, having seen himself on a few covers, who's received a few awards, is now suddenly suffering from the first signs of hubris. I've been in the business for 50 years. I've seen people come and go and I'm still here." For his part, Braeden says he only dropped out of How I Met Your Mother because of his busy schedule following hip surgery. "Everyone knows that I'm exhausted. I was not about to appear on a show for two lines." There are no small parts... [EW]

"Now get off my lawn!"
NPH has had a lead role in two successful series, which is more than Eric Braeden can claim... he's been performing the same part for 20 years with nothing else very significant on his resume.
To the poster "Joseph," google is your friend. Eric Braeden is 70 yrs old, and as he states, has been a working veteran actor for over 50 years, who started on the 1960s series 'The Rat Patrol,' and has acted in hundreds of TV and film productions. He has Emmys, People's Choice Awards and numerous other awards and nominations for his work, and also has the distinction of having a role in the biggest blockbuster film of ALL time, playing John Astor in Titanic. As do many soap opera actors who in many cases are award winning stage actors as well. The longevity of their careers in daytime drama (soaps) doesn't belie their talent. Do you have a problem with Julianne Moore, Alec Baldwin or Meg Ryan? Because they spent a fair number of years in daytime drama as well. Why don't you get back to me in 40 years, and we can compare notes on Neil Patrick Harris and what he's done, and his longevity, IF you still remember him. Right now, he's a silly 'sometime' emcee and TV sh*t-com HACK, who's stuck his foot in his mouth due to inflated self-worth and extremely bad manners. What a crappy human being, that he spends his time putting down senior actors who've worked long and hard in this business and garnered the respect of the industry. NPH is showing his TRUE colors, compassion, sensitivity and being against bullying should cross over into EVER facet of one's life, and this guy is showing he just gives lip service to being a good person - he's actually a little snarky b*tch.
Does Neil Patrick Harris have nothing better to do, than try to bitch smack senior citizens? Did he think Braeden's vocation would be sneered at, or that he wasn't widely known, so he'd be fair game? I guess NPH has gotten some wake-up call eh? Because now he's whining that he was "just protecting his show." How about protecting those veteran actors and performers having gotten up in years, who have the right to refuse a part, much like NPH does? Much less those that have just had hip surgery. I'm sure there's all kinds of 'crap,' that NPH would refuse...or can I count on him to emcee my kid's birthday party this year.
I've watched Y&R for the past few years, and I'm always waiting for Braeden to actually act -- to show some sort of emotion and to raise his voice above that stupid, whispered growl he uses in every scene. To paraphrase Hermione Granger, he shows the emotional range of teaspoon. Talk about a hack....
