Movieline's Favorite Palin Feud of the Day: The FCC vs. Bristol
For what it's worth, this just started as a joke. If three is a trend, though, then five is a tsunami. To catch you up: First, Meghan McCain took on Bristol Palin for not voting; then Keith Olbermann attacked her for being a hypocrite; then Margaret Cho said she only did Dancing with the Stars because her mother made her. Kathy Griffin blasted Bristol too, but her lobbed insult was so insignificant it didn't even warrant a Palin Feud of the Day label. Nope, that's reserved for this: A handful of very upset Dancing with the Stars fans decided the FCC was the best place to voice their displeasure over Bristol's improbable run to the finals. Strap in, America. This is happening.
Courtesy of The Smoking Gun comes a slew of written complaints received by the FCC during Bristol's Dancing with the Stars appearance. Viewers accused the ABC series of everything from "payola" to "encouraging and promoting teen pregnancy." In fact, let's look at that one in particular, since it sums this all up.
(All spelling and grammatical errors were left in to protect the innocent.)
"O believe that the Dancing with the Stars program is encouraging and promoting teen pregnancy by allowing Bristol Palin to compete for the trophy. I also believe that the program was fixed by extreme supporters of the Tea Party and the Radical Right-Wing. I find that it has become a political platform for Sarah Palin to improve her image and ooze her political slime. It is a Dancing Show based on talent and scores. It has been hijacked and misrepresented by name Dancing with the Stars. Bristol is not a star, what did she do, she had sex and got pregnant. Lets reward her. Also, there is no disclaimer that this is a political show, and instead that is what it has become. It is tragic to say that it could have been fixed but I hope ABC's ratings blow-up and go down in flames. I made several calls to ABC's complaint line and I hope their phone lines melt. It has become a political movement, with Tea Part websites instructing on how to vote. Ridiculousness!"
At least that person didn't write that the government needed to protect people from deceptive practices like Dancing with the Stars voting? (Because that did happen, too.) Anyway! Bristol has yet to respond to the released FCC complaints -- it's like Wikileaks, but not! -- though it's safe to bet that the word "canard" will be mentioned whenever she does. Tune in tomorrow to see who is fighting with Bristol Palin next!

And Lo unto the people a false prophet/dancer did appear on earth to start the eternal battle which in bringing deception would thus cause the opening of the seven seals leading to the apopcalypse thus fortold in the book of Movieline.
with her bastard child, of course.
