Winter's Bone, The Kids Are All Right Lead Spirit Award Nominations

wintersbone_rev_1.jpgIt's been quite a 12 hours for Winter's Bone. After winning Best Feature at Monday night's Gotham Awards, the acclaimed indie grabbed seven Spirit Award nominations, including Best Feature, Best Director (Debra Granik) and Best Actress (Jennifer Lawrence). Trailing close behind with five nominations was The Kids Are All Right, though perceived Oscar contender Julianne Moore neglected to garner a notice. Click ahead to see the full list of nominees.

  • S.T. VanAirsdale says:

Yeah, this is some real indie spirit, all right: A defending Best Picture filmmaker (whose star is hosting the Oscars) and its frontrunning Fox studiomate; two Focus Features pay-to-players and an actual, independently produced and distributed feature. What, Sony Classics didn't buy enough tables this year for Animal Kingdom/Another Year/Inside Job? Or are their crews hanging at the Please Give table?
I know how easy it is to spit on the Spirit Awards, but you know what? I spit on the Spirit Awards.

  • James says:

They gave nominations to f***ing Greenberg? And Ben Stiller over Robert Duvall for Get Low? Seriously? And to The Last Exorcism that had my theater laughing at the ending?
