Friday Box Office: Harry Potter Rakes In The Holiday Cash

harrypotterdeathly1_rev_1.jpgAs turkeys across the country begin their slow exit from protective custody and millions of doughy housewives proudly show off their flatscreen TVs purchased for only $299, the holiday box office has a clear winner, a strong upstart, and then a couple of real turkeys. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1 continued its glorious reign at number one, while Tangled (gag me with that cruddy title) is making a strong go at number two. But if you were Cher, a boner pill-pushing Jake Gyllenhaal or the Rock, it was a Black Friday indeed for you. Your Friday box office is here.

Am I surprised? No. Harry Potter was amazing, I have already seen it twice and both times the theatre was full, COMPLETELY full. Its going to make lots of money and play for a couple months. I can't wait to see it for my third time.

  • Marc says:

What's so wrong with the title "Tangled" -- I think it's great and the movie was excellent.

  • Lemmiwinks says:

Disney is sadly on a roll with the crummy titles for their animated films. They even renamed the new Pixar movie "Brave". Does it get more boring and unimaginative?

  • I'm not a Harry Potter fan, per se, but I've admired most of the previous films - quality effects, great supporting casts and an endearing trio of young actors.
But the latest film - boooooo-ring. At this point any film labeled "Harry Potter" will make a mint no matter the quality. It's like the "Star Wars" fans swearing how great "The Phantom Menace" was after first seeing it. Let's all wait five years and then people will start admitting Deathly Hallows 1 was a clunker.
