NBC Has Memento Disease, Is Mulling Over Comedy At 10 PM
Shades of 2009! As the recession-themed, extremely poor-rated Apprentice wraps up, NBC is left with a gaping hole in its once-venerable Thursday night line-up. So what's a poor, fourth-place network to do? Why, return to one of the worst idea in television history and put comedy on at 10 P.M., that's what they'll do.
Entertainment Weekly is reporting that NBC is considering moving 30 Rock to 10 PM, following by returning favorite Parks and Recreation at 10:30; in the old 30 Rock-spot would be new sitcom, Perfect Couples. Community and The Office and the comedy abortion known as Outsourced would stay in place, creating a three hour comedy behemoth on Thursday night.
Some NBC apparatchik thinks though the move might be risky, it could "create buzz." It sure could! Why, it could even be on the cover Time magazine! And then, later, on the cover of Entertainment Weekly! Such buzz!
Listen I'm all in favor of doing whatever can be done to extend the life of the woefully-under-appreciated Community, by far the funniest comedy on TV right now. But I think the last comedy at 10 PM debacle proved that people are pretty set in their timeslotted ways: funny jokey ha-has at 8 & 9, and cops & rape at 10. Why not just put Law & Order: SVU in the Trump Spot, and put two comedies in its place at 9 on Wednesday? Expanding their comedies (which used to be the jewels in NBC's crown) to more than one night may even create...buzz! Buzz! BUZZ, I SAY!

Last time, the show didn't fail because it was aired at 10pm, it failed because it was Jay Leno's show. If the new comedy in that time slot is any good than it should do just fine. Sheesh.
This is an awesome idea. Having a slot for darker comedies on network television is always a good thing. How does leno's show crashing and burning translate to 'no one laughs after 9:30?
they wont move SVU because the new law and order los angeles is on right after it and they prefer to have them back to back.
10 pm.... What ever happened to the 10 o`clock network newscast ?
Glad I have cable. For a min. there I worried conan might come back!
How long have you worked for NBC?
That Jay Leno show was supposed to be funny?
JAY LENO IS NOT FUNNY,HIS SHOW DRAGS ON AND ON,HIS INTERACTION WITH AUDIENCE AND GUESTS IS VERY HARD TO WATCH. THEY SHOULD PUT UP HONEYMOONERS RERUNS AND RETURN TO GOOD COMEDY.
AND MAYBE THE DONALD SHOULD BE FIRED
Whenever I see a guy in jean shorts I feel sad that he has nobody in his life to say, "You really shouldn't wear those."
