I feel the growth of the cast only added to the movie. With other trilogies, such as Twilight it works better when they don't look too different from movie one to movie four.
With Harry Potter, part of the charm was watching these kids grow up, and into their characters. It adds warmth and heart to the movie.
And the fact the leads have managed to grow up into sophisticated, bright, talented young adults that remain scandal free is wonderful too.
