Elijah Wood Joins The Animated World of Tron:Uprising On Disney XD

Well, Disney clearly feels that their new Tron flick will be a winner. Word is that they're planning a possible theme park attraction on the new movie, and now comes news that an animated Tron series scheduled for the summer of 2012 is on the books, and it's got some series talent attached to it.

Set in the period between original recipe Tron and the new Tron: Legacy, Tron:Uprising's stellar cast includes Elijah Wood as Beck, Emmanuelle Chriqui as Paige, Mandy Moore as Mara, Nate Corddry as Zed, Lance Henriksen as Tesler, Paul Reubens as Pavel, Reginald VelJohnson as Able and Bruce Boxleitner reprising his role as the dorkily heroic Tron. Yes, that's right, World. Reginald VelJohnson, America's favorite Urkle-wrangler.

And behind the camera (pencil? computer? Korean sweatshop?) is no less a constellation of talent, with executive producer/director Charlie Bean (Robotboy, Samurai Jack, and Powerpuff Girls); and consulting producers Edward Kitsis, Adam Horowitz (both screenwriters of Tron: Legacy / executive producers of Lost) and Justin Springer (co-producer of Tron: Legacy).

All of this seems pretty impressive, but hinges on the actual Tron: Legacy being a hit. Otherwise, this may all end up in the same trash heap where the dumped all the ancillary items from Speed Racer.
