George Lopez's 5 Most Pained Expressions During Conan O'Brien's Surprise Lopez Tonight Cameo

While Zach Galifianakis debuted a buzzed head on NBC last night (and a final explanation of that whole Bill Maher joint incident), Conan O'Brien "crashed" the Lopez Tonight monologue on TBS to make his basic cable debut. It was meant to be a warm exchange between George Lopez and the comedian who will be assuming his time slot on Monday, but it was fraught with awkwardness -- from the audience's applause timing (maybe fault the translator?) to Lopez's pained expressions. • Me says:

Do you really think Lopez, the host of the show, didn't know that Conan was going to come out? Please. Of course he knew. Those facial expressions mean nothing.

  • KE says:

Agreed this was clearly staged. Julie stop trying to create drama where there is none.

  • Christopher Rosen says:

I'm pretty sure putting "crashed" in quotes means that, yes, Julie was aware that it was staged. That doesn't mean Lopez's facial expressions weren't the height of awkward. Look again -- the dude isn't that good of an actor, everyone.

  • Of course Lopez knew... but I agree with Julie. What's up with all the awkwardness?? I mean it makes me think less of Lopez, could he not at least "pretend" to be hospitable to his guest?? Weird

  • Gideon says:

This is precisely the kind of article that dickwad Todd Philips was talking about when he said Movieline has a nasty tone. It's easy to cherry-pick freeze-frames and call it "awkward" -- or "elated" or "pensive" or whatever you want. That is the nature of how human faces move.
I watched the clip and found no trace of awkwardness. It's clear to me Lopez is on board with Coco and he's got plenty of reasons for it, too.
Honestly guys, you're above this shit. You're just manufacturing drama where there is none. I come here for the insightful commentary, something you guys are usually very good at. Kindly refrain from FoxNewsin' it.
