Sylvester Stallone Wasn't Actually Calling Barack Obama the 'Manchurian Candidate'
On Tuesday, Sylvester Stallone enraged many a Twitter follower (and Movieline commenter) when he tweeted that it was time to "get the Manchurian Candidate out of the drivers [sic] seat before were [sic] ALL soaring off a cliff into Oblivion." Clarifying his remarks, Stallone said,"The Manchurian Candidate was a movie about fake president who was put there by foreign enemies to destroy America. Scary concept. Rise up!" It's not every day you see a major box office star comparing the President of the United States to a sleeper cell, but apparently Stallone wasn't doing that. See what he meant to say was...
Stallone told The Hollywood Reporter that his tweet was only done "in the spirit of creating a conversation" and that the use of "Manchurian candidate" was "a reference to all career politicians." Ah-ha? So, wait, Stallone thinks all "career politicians" are puppets of some foreign enemy sent to destroy America from within? On second though, maybe Sly was better off when everyone just thought he was only insulting Barack Obama.

Oh, don't mind him. It's just the roids talking; the only veins left for him to inject the steroids are on his forehead.
So, how was he wrong? President Hopeychange goes around bowing to our enemies, screwing over our economy, and yells down his critics.
So, when President Dopey (Bush) made enemies of our friends, screwed over our budget surplus and yelled to his critics that they were helping the "terrists" win, was he a Manchurian Candidate, too?
Honestly, your and everyone else's outrage is 5-10 years late.
SK,
"Bowing to our enemies." Haha. Love it. What does that mean?
Are you referring to the time he bowed to the king of Saudi Arabia (as is the local custom)? Bush made it perfectly clear that they aren't our enemies by not going after them, despite the fact that 18 of the 19 9/11 hijackers were Saudi, because he's an oil man and they have lots of oil. Bush did a lot more "bowing" to those people than Mr. Hopeychange ever has.
And what's wrong with "yelling down his critics" when his critics are mostly morons who never make salient points?
Lastly, if you think Obama has anything to do with this economy you have no idea how anything works. Here's the deal, the economy is cyclical. Roughly every ten years there is a recession (look at 1990, 2000, and 2008). The reason this normal recession became a depression is the hilariously inept economic policy of Bush.
But if you think you can wage two wars -- one of which was so unnecessary it was literally immoral -- and cut taxes for the wealthy at the same time, while not expecting the deficit to spiral out of control... well, it's not wonder you're so confounded by even the simplest of premises.
I'm sick of all this Sly bashing. After all, he did personally end the Cold War in Rocky IV.
Like always, when idiot celebrities talked about Bush, everyone laughed and cheered them, but one is conservative and says what we ALL think of Obama and now he is nuts? Lay off the pot and you will see that Obama is nothing more than a puppet!
Sophie,
1) Clearly, it isn't what "we ALL" think of Obama because if it was, no one would be dissenting, so quit projecting.
2) You're right, neither Sean Penn or Michael Moore types ever get any guff from the angelical right for their anti-Bush rants.
Don't shit yourself.
Thanks Gideon. It's tiring to have to keep bitchslapping these single-cell organisms with facts.
I really can't believe that Stallone is not only empty-headed enough to believe what he said, but he proves himself even more helium-brained to voice it in public. Does he want to find yet another reason to be dismissed and ignored? OK, fine then -- lets give this roid-addled simpleton what he wants. Farewell dumbshit.
