'The Crazy Bitch Gazette' and 23 Other Strangely Misogynistic Two and a Half Men Episode Titles

Charlie Sheen Week continues over here at Movieline with a spotlight on last night's remarkably titled episode, "The Crazy Bitch Gazette." Yes, a Monday night primetime network sitcom casually incorporated the single word that Oprah Winfrey has preemptively banned from her cable channel because it unnecessarily cuts women down. Was last night's title just a fluke or has the world's most incest monster-friendly sitcom been airing oddly misogynistic titled episodes during the last eight seasons, only we've been too distracted to notice? Take a look at the following evidence and judge for yourself.

· Season 1, Episode 15: "Round One to the Hot Crazy Chick"

· Season 2, Episode 2; "Enjoy Those Garlic Balls"

"The Labia, The Bitch, and No Wardrobe"

That's right, Chuck Lorre is a misogynist. In other news water is wet and the sky is blue.

Don't like it, Don't watch it.

  • gene says:

Don't like it don't watch it!

  • Bruce_F says:

Yeah, 2.5 Men isn't exactly a pillar of television excellence. I get it. Charlie Sheen is really messed up. I get that too. This article, however, I don't get.
You're getting toilet humor and misogyny confused. Referencing lube, booty calls, and Caligula isn't misogynistic. It's just cheap, sophomoric humor which happens to be the hallmark of the show. So, no big surprise there.
Is there misogyny in this show? It's a safe bet. Some of the titles you listed certainly indicate that, but only a few of them. You, however, are letting your bias run wild and have obviously started reading too deeply into things and are now seeing things that just aren't there.
Don't look for deeper meanings in a show as shallow as a bird bath. What you see is what you get and what you see isn't worth wasting your time over.

    Yeah! What Bruce_F (and Gene) said . . .

  • Michael says:

    This is retarded.
There is a big difference between "misogyny" and "sexist."
Which one of these titles was misogynistic?
What... using the word "bitch?" What if a woman IS a bitch? They are out there, you know... probably almost as many of them as there are assholes. SOMETIMES they even get written in as characters in sitcoms. *shocker*
Sheen's character obviously has no RESPECT for women, but that's a far cry from hating them.
Just how easy IS it to become a professional writer these days, anyway? Apparently vocabulary isn't a prerequisite.

  • DLV says:

"Two and a Half Men" is a comedy show, and American comedy is based on raucous immodest humor. Whoever this feminist (looking for crap to stir up) is, she needs to take a pill and change the channel if she doesn't like what she's viewing.

  • SunnydaZe says:

    YEAH! What West said....

  • Wilson Boozer says:

I have been offended by this show for years, and even mentioned it to a female friend who had accused me in the past of being less than sensitive to women's issues. To my amazement she defended it saying that it was funny. I once emailed a complaint to NOW, and they didn't seem to be interested. This show makes every man out to be interested in women only to the extent that they are able to provide sexual pleasure, and that should offend all of us.

  • Travis says:

I happen to like the show and guess what so does my wife it's one of her favorites. The writer JULIE MILLER is probably a man hating feminist that get's offended easily. Just remember you chose to be offended... to be offended is a choice. There is such a thing as a bitch and sometimes they write articals like this one. OOOOH I hope I didn't offend any one

  • Bluus says:

It's a stupid, sexist show...how is this new? And by sexist I don't just mean towards us ladies (which it undoubtedly is) but also towards men who it paints out to be nothing but disgusting, pathetic, sex-obsessed creatures. It's trash but the American public loves trash, that's why it's still on.
Also, as several people were kind enough to point out 'sexist' and 'misogynistic' are two very different things. I assume the writer may have been wanting the term 'male chauvinism' and, as so many people do, confused it with misogyny.

  • D M says:

Men bashing is so common on TV when it happens to women it becomes news. Whats good for the goose .... ? or if mysogeny is so offensive to miss Miss Winfrey why is mysandry so common her channel. Me smells a bigot.

  • Russ says:

Here's a joke for you. How many men does it take to make one hell of a stupid-ass show? Two and a half.

  • Hec says:

Alright? I don't see why the hate, Two and half men, an amazing show.

  • Michael says:

Only 13 at the most were anti female, the premise of your article, and I'm stretching that which supports a view that perhaps your article lacks validity or should have at least been edited by someone with the vision to reduce the list to 10. Poor job.

  • jim says:

Should be the last season. It is getting lame.

  • Andrew says:

Every episode is named after a memorable line of dialog.

  • Jackie Oh says:

Too bad for the Big O, that misogonomistic homo fat pig thinks her thang don't stank. Well, her boyfriend bitch, Gail said it did when they went camping and she had to leave the tent.

  • Michael A. says:

What can I say, I like the show, and Charlie Sheen is making big money without having to act, he just has to be himself.

  • Chris says:

Really Julie, you are a terrible reporter, and need to learn the meaning of words. As has been stated already, this show is sophomoric at best and equally degrades both men and women as being less than they really are. get off your high horse and find something actually true to write about.

  • Anonymous says:

Staggering to see people resort to personal attacks against the writer of the article. Grow up! Disagree with someone's position, but never attack them or call them names.
Two and a Half Men is witty, has pushed the boundaries of stodgy American television (have you ever seen British or European TV?) and makes fun of both the sexes. I would contend that the women come off looking smarter and more in control than the male characters. Chelsea, Mia, Linda and any number of strong women have played foil to the male buffoons.
It's time to have an honest conversation about sex in America. The reason for the show's success is that it reflects what many have thought at one time or other. It just condenses it and makes fun of it. Bawdy humor has been a hallmark of entertainment for centuries.
America needs to join the rest of the world by dumping its puritanical views on sex and relationships. Oh, and if you are offended by something, just switch off. Americans love to complain about things and have them banned rather than choose to watch something else.

This show is genius. If you can't laugh at something in it, you've got NO sense of humor.
