Give Whoopi some credit for standing by a friend.
Regardless of whether or not Gibson's a lunatic, she's met the man and apparently likes him. So she defended "her" relationship with him, not the world's.
Let's be honest, the media has the power to sway people greatly. We've ALL jumped on a bandwagon many times in our lives.
I'm NOT saying the guy's a gem. Not at all. I'm just saying that if you like someone and have had no bad experiences with them, what's better? - To state that fact or to join the "Bash Masses" when it's politically correct/publicly favorable to do so?
Kudos to the Whoopster for holding her ground.
Am I the only one who is sick to death of Barbara Walters' sanctimonious, above the fray attitude? She's the executive producer of this swill. She would only have a problem with all this fighting if it hurt her ratings.
Kudos to Joan Rivers for finally calling Whoopi Goldberg out on her defense of MelGibson. He is an repentant anti-semite and he doesn't disguise it. Her defense of him is like me defending David Duke (Klan leader) because he was nice to me. Honestly, Whoopi- just keep quiet. She also defended Michael Vick...
Thanks Joan...you go girl!!
Yup, and Whoopi also defended Polanski saying "it wasn't rape, rape."
I'm no fan of Rivers and while I do respect (not admire) people who stand by friends, a friend will also tell you when you are wrong and that you need to seek treatment. Intervention, Whoopi. Ever heard of it?
The real public hates Oksana and loves Mel.
Face it all of you journalists (ROL), etc. Or anyone who has raked him over the coals publicly. George is right, we have seen a Lynch-mob Mentality out there in much of the press. And anyone who has condemned this man using the power of the media, should hang their heads in shame!
You people who set yourselves up as judge, jury and punishers of this guy, have furnished the public with false information about his thoughts and actions as if you know him personally. You call him names and give him life long labels because of one or two things he has said in private! Lets have what you or I say in private - plastered up all over the world!
All people say horrible things in moments of stress. You pack of sanctimonious cowardly hypocrites, who hold others accountable for things you do yourself, are seriously guilty of wrong doing and need to look at your own crappy lives.
Casting stones will backfire on those who have run in to kick the crap out of MG when they think he is down. Because you really do not know him, and grossly underestimate how many people see exactly what is happening here.
For each of you who scream out your hatred for this man, there are a thousand who admire him, they are just not "loud mouthed journalists", dedicated to his downfall. They are ordinary intelligent people who have seen him set up in the media by a bimbo.
And then the "We Hate MG Club" attaching itself to her gyrating ass and started crying like a bunch of sniveling weenies over a couple of private remarks said by him.
Your over sensitivity is pathetic! All oversensitive people are guilty of gross insensitivity to others. In other words they sure do dish out copious amounts of abuse and punishment, all in the name of having their poor little sensibilties offended. - Hypocrites!
It's very clear to us people who have seen this sickening display unfold. And many of you who are guilty of this hypocrisy have made yourselves visible to us. Its easy to see the white foam gathered at the corners of your mouths. We know your hatred is not about the Oksana thing. If she had tried this smear campaign on anyone else, she would never have been taken seriously. Her list of lies are laughable. How much longer will this nonsense be tolerated? She went
past the ridiculous mark immediately after she started this travesty. She keeps assigning her wrong doings to MG every day, and as usual, she speaks with a forked tongue. Or I should say Fu.cked tongue!
I have never seen anyone behave in a more civilized manner than Mr. Gibson. He has not engaged in any of this circus even once. She has no proof to back up anything she says. She just lies and whines incessantly. Sometimes she whines and lies. Sometime she lies with her bodyguard. I bet that someone so full of corruption smells awful. Oksana, not the body guard!
Rivers is the ugliest inside and out b*tch that ever was. I hate her and I refuse to watch any show she is on. Walters is the rear.
Hi Mel!!
Let's say you have a friend with whom you personally haven't had bad experiences. But he's been arrested for drunk driving. He's publicly made anti-Semitic comments. He's been caught on tape using vile racial slurs and behaving abusively toward the mother of his young child, and behaving generally like a psychotic.
In that case, a person with their head screwed on right would be telling that friend that they need to get help. They wouldn't just shrug their shoulders and say "meh, I've never had a problem with him." That's classic enabling behaviour. If you know of a friend with a problem, as a friend you should either be doing what you can to help, or you're not a real friend. And even worse, you're silently giving your seal of approval to their problem behaviours.
FWIW, even if I never had a problem personally with a friend of mine, I would think twice about any relationship with them if I became aware that they did any of the things that either Gibson and especially Polanski has done. Dismissing and justifying child rape and racism is unacceptable.
Goldberg is the reason I don't watch the view. I've boycotted her along with Polanski and Gibson. I won't give my $$$ to racists and rapists nor their apologists.
