Yup, Zach Galifianakis Really Called Mel Gibson Insane
Not much ambiguity here: Approached by Esquire.com last month on the occasion of It's Kind of a Funny Story , Zach Galifianakis diagnosed the mental health of several cultural figures who would remain anonymous. Or, as in the case of Mel Gibson, barely, barely anonymous.
Case No. 4
SYMPTOMS: You say to a woman, "Go look after my child, you cunt whore, I hope she doesn't turn out like you."
THE GALIFIANAKIS DIAGNOSIS: That guy is insane.
Annnnd that might at least partially explain the comic's reluctance to welcome Gibson to the Hangover 2 set. Thankfully there's nothing on this list to suggest Galifianakis said anything equivalent about Gibson's replacement Liam Neeson, unless Neeson has an HBO series and an unborn child nobody knows about.

When you have a chance to work with someone like Mel Gibson you do not turn it down.
Because then you can bust his balls unmercifully and he has to take or wind up heading farther down shit creek.
Strategy my boys, use it.
But these guys had no problem with Mike Tyson in their first Hangover?
the mike tyson argument is bullshit. whether you buy that mike has changed or not doesn't matter, his shit is at least a decade old.
mel cannot even claim to be a changed man since this shit just went down.
i'm sick of the mike tyson argument. it makes zero sense.
So if you commit a crime and 10-plus years pass ... it's all good? Tell that to the victim of Tyson's aggression. If memory serves Tyson is still proclaiming his innocence.
It's def. not an apples to apples comparison ... but it's still discussion fodder.
I actually support Zach's stance ... but wonder why his peers don't flinch at sharing the stage with Roman Polanski or Charlie Sheen?
i totally get yr stance. i just feel like most polanski / tyson acts are viewed as more acceptable b/c enough time has passed that you can at least make the 'i'm a changed person' argument. and if someone is still angry at them then you can just claim they're holding an unreasonable grudge (whether thats b/s or not).
but in the mel gibson case its too recent to make any sort of argument like that. its too fresh. he's too fresh of a douchebag.
plus, in the other cases we were spared the hard details. in the mel gibson case we got like five straight days of brutal 'from-his-mouth' recordings. it strikes a different chord.
i'm not saying its right, but i will rewatch chinatown but its gonna be years before i watch my dvd of Payback - the straight up cut (which is actually a secretly great movie)
I couldn't care less what Zack What's-His-Face thinks of Mel Gibson. I for one can't wait to see the Jodie Foster-directed film "The Beaver" starring Mel and herself. Miss Foster is one of the most intelligent people in the film industry and can understand a complex, conflicted and tortured soul like Mr. Gibson -- that's what makes him such a compelling actor and filmmaker, and Foster's understanding of Gibson is a lot more LIBERAL than the rest of you illiberal PC drones and mindless ding-dongs in Hollywood could ever muster. I'll bet "The Beaver" is 100 times as smart and memorable as "Hangover 2."
Zack Galafinfatass needs to get over his inflated ego, who is he to cry foul over the very talented Actor/Director Mel Gibson being cast in a small 5 min cameo scene.....
