Children's Book Reveals First Plot Details of the 3rd Transformers Movie

transformers-225.jpgThis is too perfect. Our first hint at the plot for Michael Bay's Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon (almost titled Transformers: Fear of a Planet) comes from an Amazon.com description of a ten page children's pop-up book. If you're dying to pre-order the book (which may or may not have doubled as Bay's shooting script), it's titled Transformers 3 Push-Pops Board Book. In the meantime, we've got the details about the plot and new characters after the jump. (Hint: Bay misses the Cold War era.)

The Autobots Bumblebee, Ratchet, Ironhide and Sideswipe led by Optimus Prime, are back in action, taking on the evil Decepticons, who are determined to avenge their defeat in 2009's Transformers Revenge of the Fallen. In this new movie, the Autobots and Decepticons become involved in a perilous space race between the U.S. and Russia, and once again human Sam Witwicky has to come to the aid of his robot friends. There's new characters too, including a new villain in the form of Shockwave, a longtime "Transformers" character who rules Cybertron while the Autobots and Decepticons battle it out on Earth.

So there you have it. The new film will cut between incoherent robot battles on earth, a space tyrant, and U.S. rivalry with Russia. By my count, that's actually three more major plot lines than Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen so expect this one to clock in somewhere around four hours.

As for that pop-up book, it features "fold-out panels that reveal panoramic battle scenes and Transformers." Get excited.
