Eastbound and Down Moral Compass: 'Making the World Your B*tch'
When last night's Eastbound and Down opened, Kenny Powers was recording Chapter 10 of his self help tape: "Making the World Your Bitch." Kenny's keys to achieving this American dream included "buying the most expensive fashions, dining in the fanciest food places, riding around on god damned jet skis, raining trim, hallucinogens, throwing heat, jet skis again, and getting laid." To see whether Kenny's admirable pursuit last night landed him on the moral high road or low road, join Movieline below for the weekly Eastbound and Down moral compass.
· Kenny pays for his girlfriend Vida to record a single in a stage-of-the-art studio so that all of her dreams can come true. Uncharacteristically, NORTHBOUND
· Kenny censors Vida's lyrics about being in an unhappy relationship, demands an executive producer credit. DOWN
· Kenny makes a screaming stadium wait for him before a game so that he can finish his cigarette. DOWN
· Kenny make his game time entrance on a jackass-driven cart, throwing Tecate into the crowd. "Who wants a beer? You all do. You're Mexican!" DOWN
· Kenny tells his ump to "take a beer and shut the f*ck up." DOWN
· Kenny remixes his girlfriend's album with a rap track about "choking b*tches." DOWN
· Kenny does a line of coke in the locker room before delivering a racist rant directed at his coach. DOWN
· Kenny steals a soccer ball from the children in his neighborhood, punts it into a nearby field. DOWN
· After he catches Vida in a sexually compromising position with another man, Kenny calls her a whore, trashes the recording studio and forfeits his executive producer credit. Somewhat warranted, but still... DOWN
· Kenny demands that Stevie break up with his first girlfriend so that they can be miserable together. DOWN
· Kenny shows up for a baseball game trashed, runs onto the field with a loaded gun, simulates the birth of a soccer ball and officially quits the team. Awesome but DOWN
OVERALL: Kenny's altruistic streak, however promising, was cut short after finding out that Vida, his "whore with a heart of gold" was just "a whore with a regular old whore's heart." Cue Part IV of Kenny Powers' Slow and Steady Backslide.
