VIDEO: Reality Catches Up with Old Sci-Fi Movies -- You Can Now Own a Jetpack
These days, movies about the future warn of unprecedented surveillance technology, cloning, genetic engineering, and other scary stuff, but back in simpler times, the only thing that anyone expected out of the future was jetpacks. And maybe laser guns, extra-terrestrial life, and flying cars. Now, after everyone has pretty much given up on those lofty goals, one company is manufacturing and selling jetpacks to consumers. Well, rich consumers. More information and video demonstration after the jump.
So yes, you can own one of these bad boys for just $100,000. The company boasts that these can take riders "30 miles in 30 minutes" (That's um, 60 miles per hour, guys.) on about five gallons of gas. No word on whether it includes shields to protect from rocks and trash that jealous people will inevitably throw at the jerks flying around with jetpacks. Stay tuned for updates on those flying cars.

Do your homework NBC. All I had to do was snoop around on Youtube a bit. I swear to God, corporately owned news organizations are as bad as corporately owned governments.
