Today in Foregone Conclusions: Peter Jackson Directing The Hobbit
Congratulations to Peter Jackson, who has outlasted set fires, labor strife and Guillermo del Toro's ejector seat to officially inherit directing duties on The Hobbit. As noted previously, production will commence in January -- in 3-D, budgeted around $500 million -- with the two-part film arriving in theaters in December 2012 and December 2013 installments. Get excited! (?) [Deadline]

What makes me most excited is that this is the first movie scheduled post-2012.
For a moment, I thought Hollywood was front-loading 2012 with every last sequel possible before the Emmerich movie came to fruition. But this gives me hope.
