The Cast of Friday Night Lights Gets Sexy, Sells Different Series in Promo for Final Season

Unless you have DirecTV or know someone who does, you won't be able to watch the final season of Friday Night Lights until it airs on NBC next spring. Speaking as a member of the show's ardent fan base: Boo! (Psst, DirecTV, send me the screeners.) For now then, this new promo for Friday Night Lights is the closest thing we'll get to game action for a few more months. Which makes you wonder: Just what show is being sold here?

The super-sexy cast of FNL gets a super-sexy makeover in this DirecTV 101 commercial, complete with slow motion, designer clothes and come-hither looks that portend to a different series altogether. Sure, it isn't as bad as the season two promos that NBC ran in an attempt to goose ratings, but it's pretty comical none-the-less. Also comical: That Vince Howard and Luke Cafferty would bro hug while ogling Jess Merriweather. Never happening! (These aren't real people? Shut your mouth.)

VERDICT: Clear eyes, full hearts, can't lose.
