The Hobbit Set Goes Up In Teeny-Tiny Flames
I suppose after such a run of good luck -- your films grossing more than $3 billion worldwide, enough Oscars to goldplate your house and Sean Astin on your speed-dial -- cosmically speaking, you might be due for some bad luck. But man, poor Peter Jackson, is really catching his bad luck in buckets.
After a bankruptcy stall, his original director dropping out and a contentious labor battle in the offing, Peter Jackson is now faced with a destructive fire that ripped through the New Zealand set The Hobbit. No injuries were reported, but the blaze allegedly nearly completely destroyed Jackson's miniatures shop and his specialized miniatures shooting facility, one of the few like it in the world. I think Jackson maybe oughtta give Terry Gilliam a call -- he can walk Jackson through the many steps of grieving over a cursed film shoot.

At this point, seeing The Hobbit feels more like an obligation than anything else. Maybe this is a good thing.
Dixon,
I enjoy your posts and have been a regular reader ever since Movieline's content was embedded in the mail.com portal, but just an FYI – you don't need the "allegedly" in front of the bit about the fire.
The fire burned the set. That much is established. If investigators suspect arson and they have a suspect in mind, then it would be appropriate to use "allegedly," but even then you can get around that ugly word with simple attribution.
Anyway, bad news for Mr. Jackson. I don't know about other movie fans, but all the public squabbling, delays and general ridiculousness have soured me on this movie, and I can't say I'm looking forward to it.
I was, however, thrilled to learn that the movie based on HBO's Rome is moving forward. Information on that project seems to be months old, so any update you guys can provide would be sincerely appreciated.
Cheers
The term was used to describe the amount of damage, not in reference to the cause. But since you brought it up, let's face it, the timing of this fire is more than a little suspicious with the labour dispute.

French Language is one of the languages that people would love to learn. When people
are seeking interior design inspiration for their dining rooms, they often turn to old-style French creations.
The people are of course a mixture of many races but the Polynesians love
to laugh, and sing, so you cannot fail to leave these islands with a different
