Outrage: The Cast of Glee Does Not Get Soundtrack Royalties

Ryan Murphy and 20th Century Fox may be cashing in now that the Glee branding machine has gone into hyper drive (get your Macy's clothing line, CDs, Wii games, greeting cards, board games, pens, notebooks, leather products, and more!) but when it comes to getting a cut of the show's popular soundtracks, there are some notable people getting screwed.

According to the New York Post, the cast members are "furious" because they feel that they were misled by Sony and haven't gotten their fair share of profits from the latest record, Glee: The Music: Journey to Regionals, which topped the Billboard charts in June. The cast was so disappointed with the deal between Sony CEO Ralph Schmidt-Holtz and Glee's creator/Emmy-winning director Ryan Murphy that Matthew Morrison, Mark Salling, and Lea Michele signed with competing record labels.

In spite of the claims, one cast member is remaining hopeful about the grim royalty situation. "I got 400 bucks from [the album] going No. 1," Cory Monteith told radio station 99.5 earlier this month. "But you know what, that's OK, because if I'm patient, and if this thing does really well, maybe I'll see another 400 bucks."

That's the spirit. Now, who wants to wager what kind of share the creators of Auto-tune have in this deal?
