Now Mariah Carey Wants to Be Your Next American Idol Judge
Do you remember how just yesterday, People reported that American Idol had dumped Jennifer Lopez from its judging panel after her "demands got out of hand"? Well, Nick Cannon -- the Ryan Seacrest of the Simon Cowell-produced America's Got Talent -- would like to nominate someone very close to him for the Idol arbitration table that reportedly now includes just Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler.
In an interview published yesterday by The Hollywood Reporter, Cannon revealed that his wife -- five-time Grammy Award-winning artist Mariah Carey -- has considered jumping into Fox's game of musical Idol judge chairs.
"She talks about it. She says, 'I would love to do that.' She is one of the greatest singers of our time; she would be great. I don't know if she has enough time, though, but if they could work with her schedule, I know she would love to do Idol. Let's start the campaign! "
...and let's stop the campaign right there, Nick Cannon. "Mariah Carey Week" was certainly fun for fans and David Cook alike, and Mariah did have some pretty good chemistry with residual judge Randy Jackson back in 2008 when they shared the stage for Idol Gives Back, but do you really think that the artist who demanded a diamond-encrusted microphone stand for a separate Idol performance is going to have less demands than Jennifer Lopez?
That being said, Movieline still knows of a candidate who is less predictable than Lopez, more volatile than Carey, and someone who doesn't really have the diva ground to stand on these days: Courtney Love.

Then again, if she does gets hired, they'll only have to use half of the cameras - since they will only be allowed to photograph/record her "good" side.
