Hollywood Ink: Let the John Belushi Biopic Casting Speculation Begin
Also in today's (slim) Hollywood Ink: Robert Schwentke may be the new Ridley Scott, and Paramount gets geeky. But really: Let's hear your Belushi recommendations after the jump.
· Without getting too far ahead ahead of ourselves, ZOMG Todd Phillips is going to make a biopic about John Belushi AHHHHHH [cough, sputter, choke, die]. At least that's all anyone's going to ask him about at the upcoming Due Date junket, despite there not being a script yet and Phillips only having so far committed to producing. Still, ZOMG everybody! Seth Rogen and Jack Black's agents are no doubt planning a duel at sunset just to clear a path to the material for their stars. As long as we're projecting on this slowest of slowest news days, feel free to chime in below with your casting speculation as well. [THR]
· Schwentke, Schwentke, Schwentke. The director with the Greatest Name in Hollywood has been linked to yet another project in development, this time sniffing around at the Dark Horse graphic-novel adaptation R.I.P.D. The project's in accelerated development at Universal as a starring vehicle for Ryan Reynolds; Schwedtke (Red) was previously linked to the adaptations of the Robert Ludlum novel The Osterman Weekend and the nonfiction tome Shadow Divers. You can never be too busy. [LAT]
· Speaking of graphic novels, Paramount won the bidding war for the Heavy Metal property Last Man Standing, about a war hero of the future who breaks out of "the worst jail of all time" after a shadowy terrorist cabal frames him. It sounds... expensive. [Deadline]

Joseph Gordon-Levitt can put on 200 lbs and do it. He'd be great
Step off the elliptical and into the line at Pink's, Rogan.
I think Michael Chiklis is still portly enough to pull this off again - or would that typecast him?
Artie Lange. Duh.
i think if they get a big name to play belush it will ruin it, whenever you see a big name play someone it takes away from the person he or she is playing. so if they cast jack black it will be hey jack black is playing belushi cool. It keeps the audience from really getting into the story. cast an up and comer it will be better for the movie!
Chris, I love your comment. It is so true.
