TV Bites: Jonathan Demme Gets Enlightened for HBO

demme_225.jpgIn this morning's other TV Bites: The CW plans a crossover... a former $#*! My Dad Says star finds work... Levi Johnston gets his reality show... and more ahead.

· Another day, another Oscar-winning director working for HBO. Jonathan Demme will join Martin Scorsese, Kathryn Bigelow, Bill Condon and Alexander Payne (though the latter pair just won Oscars for writing; pfft) at the network when he helms two episodes of Enlightened. The Mike White-penned dramedy stars Laura Dern as a ne'er-do-well, who -- you guessed it -- gets enlightened. White happily tells Deadline that in addition to Demme the series has also lined up John Cameron Mitchell (Hedwig and the Angry Inch), Phil Morrison (Junebug), Nicole Holofcener (Please Give) and Miguel Arteta (The Good Girl) to direct as well. Needless to say, get excited. [Deadline]

· Now this is network synergy: The CW plans to have new Tuesday night stablemates One Tree Hill and Life Unexpected stage a crossover stunt during an October episode of Life Unexpected. If only they could have found a way to get Naomi from 90210 on Gossip Girl things could have really been interesting. [EW]

· Ryan Devlin lives! After being dumped from $#*! My Dad Says, the actor has reportedly found his way back to Cougar Town. Devlin will appear next year in an undisclosed amount of episodes as Busy Phillips' on screen love interest [EW]

· Because, sure: Levi Johnston is getting a reality show. Bristol Palin's baby daddy will star in Loving Levi: The Road to the Mayor's Office, a series which will showcase his attempts to run for mayor of Wasilla, Alaska. According to a statement, Levi will serve the "full term" if he gets elected. Zing! He's already got my vote. [Us]

· All ten fans of the ABC reality series Shark Tank, take notice: the network has renewed the fledgling show for eight episodes. Better news? Jeff Foxworthy will appear on three of them! Err. [Vulture]

· Former Hill Street Blues star Daniel J. Travanti is returning to television... as a bad guy. He'll play a serial killer on an upcoming episode of Criminal Minds. [TV Guide]
