TV Bites: Friday Night Lights' Zach Gilford Heads Off the Map
Also in this morning's TV Bites: HBO will make your fall that much cooler... V brings back an original cast member... Camelot goes to Rome... and more ahead.
· Matt Saracen got a new show! Err, I mean Zach Gilford. The Friday Night Lights star has been cast as one of the lead's on the Shonda Rhimes-produced medical drama, Off the Map. Gilford will play a plastic surgeon and "all-American frat boy," on the South America-set series. Said Gilford: "[Off the Map creator Jenna Bans] told me she loves FNL, but wants to distance me from that role as much as possible. That excited me." So basically he's Tim Riggins now. Off the Map will air in midseason. [EW]
· In addition to telling the world that Entourage will end in 2011, HBO let loose a whole bunch of scoop during their TCA panel over the weekend. In Treatment will return with new episodes in October; Curb Your Enthusiasm and Big Love will hit in 2011; the new series Game of Thrones could premiere as early as March; Ricky Gervais will do another comedy special for HBO in December; and the cable network will air the Bruce Springsteen documentary The Promise: The Making of 'Darkness on the Edge of Town in October. Call your cable provider now. [Post-Gazette]
· Did you like ABC's reboot of V but felt it needed more cat eating? Then perhaps this news will make you happy. The series has hired original baddie Jane Badler to reprise her role as Diana. She'll act as mother to Morena Baccarin's evil Anna and probably cause a whole lot of alien-related mischief. [TV Guide]
· Rome veteran James Purefoy will next been seen in the Starz series Camelot. Don't get too excited though: He isn't a series regular. [THR/The Live Feed]
· Law & Order: Los Angeles keeps casting: They've added Megan Boone to the ranks as a deputy district attorney. [Deadline]
· And in case you haven't heard: Jane Lynch will host Saturday Night Live on Oct. 9.

I'd say more JD McCoy than Tim Riggins
