TV Bites: Justin Timberlake Gets Animated for The Cleveland Show

justintimberlake_225.jpgAlso in this morning's TV Bites: David Geffen was almost an American Idol judge... Andie McDowell heads to television... How I Met Your Mother probably didn't just cast the mother... and more ahead.

· To further his constant quest to take over the entertainment industry one leg at a time, Justin Timberlake will lend his voice to The Cleveland Show this season. The cartoon version of JT will be gay and have Jason Sudekis's cartoon avatar in hot pursuit of him. [Us Magazine]

· What might have been: Deadline reports that American Idol producers approached David Geffen to replace Simon Cowell, but the billionaire record mogul wasn't interested. Apparently he responded to the offer with the age-old question: "Why should I do this?" [Deadline]

· Lone Star is already one of the more anticipated shows on the schedule this fall and now it's added another heavy hitter: Andie McDowell will join the Fox series -- her first foray into network television -- as a love interest for Jon Voight. [EW]

· MTV is now making dramas. Or dramedies, at least. They've just greenlit I Just Want My Pants Back with Doug Liman on as executive producer and director of the pilot. Pants, based on the novel by David J. Rosen, follows a group of 20-somethings as they navigate love and relationships in the big city. [Deadline]

· Fred Armisen is teaming up with former Sleater-Kinney guitarist Carrie Brownstein for Portlandia, a sketch comedy series for IFC. Naturally, Lorne Michaels is producing the show, which should have a six-episode run in 2011. [Variety]

· How I Met Your Mother has added Broadway star Laura Bell Bundy as -- spoiler! -- not the mother. She'll play potential love interest for Ted (Josh Radnor), who will break up with him when her guest-starring arc is finished. Not that I'm tired of this show or anything. [EW]

  • Truly, MTV continues to be innovative. Who would ever think to do a show about a group of 20-somethings as they navigate love and relationships in the big city?! It's that kind of out-of-the-box thinking that makes them truly the best cable channel in the Basic Tier package!
