Movieline's Week in Review: The Boys of Summer
Let's just make this fast -- kind of like the way the week (let alone most of 2010) has gone here at Movieline HQ. Read on for our customary reflections, memories, notes and preoccupations to keep it all alive through the weekend, during which time weekend editor Dixon Gaines will be here adding even more to the rich mix. Enjoy, and have a good one!
· Many thanks to our tremendous roster of interviewees, including Sam Rockwell, Gemma Arterton, America Ferrera, Wilmer Valderrama, Badge Dale, Ilene Chaiken, Argentine cinema sexpot Isabel Sarli and Verge designee Ryan O'Nan.
· Gary Oldman, J.D. Salinger and Super Mario Bros. were perhaps the most unusual sources of profound cultural meditation.
· Let's hear it for the TCA Press Tour, where we caught up with even more illustrious interviewees like Lea Michele, Jon Voight, Will Arnett, Andy Cohen, Lauren Graham, Julie Chen, Julie Bowen, Ellie Kemper, and Chris Harrison.
· Christina Hendricks stayed in the spotlight with her high school past, her kung fu future and a little visit in character to the gynecologist. Busy busy, that one!
· A busy week's worth of Two-Minute Verdicts were dispatched to trailers for The Chronicles of Narnia, Burlesque, The Bang Bang Club, Don't Be Afraid of the Dark, Trust, and the perennially controversial Catfish.
· We premiered the new posters for You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger and Night Catches Us.
· Recaps! We got recaps, including Mad Men, Jersey Shore, Project Runway, Warehouse 13, So You Think You Can Dance, The Bachelorette and Big Brother.
· Justin Bieber snuck up on us out of nowhere with a zesty TV appearance and arguably the most cynically conceived film project of all time. Anyone out there want to direct it?
