TV Bites: Diablo Cody is a Winner

· What a grand last seven days for Diablo Cody. In addition to welcoming her first child into the world, the Oscar-winning screenwriter possibly lined up a return engagement to the awards when Jason Reitman and Charlize Theron attached themselves to her latest screenplay, Young Adult. And now comes word that Cody has sold a comedy pilot to Fox. Called The Breadwinner, details are non-existent right now, but the title alone is prescient. Thanks to a put-pilot deal, Fox will have to pay Cody a penalty if they don't air the finished pilot. Mama's gotta buy diapers! [THR]

· Your latest American Idol rumor: Returning producer Nigel Lythgoe -- who doesn't have a signed deal yet -- would also act as one of the judges, a role he occupies on So You Think You Can Dance. [EW]

· Stop me if you've heard this one before: NBC's Chuck has added another guest star to its ranks. Oh right, this happens everyday. Today's lucky Hollywood star: Lou Ferrigno! He'll play a bodyguard and participate in many Hulk references. [EW]

· After being scolded for not having enough gay characters on their primetime schedule, CBS has begun to rectify the issue. They've cast Dallas Roberts on The Good Wife as Julianna Margulies gay brother. [EW]

· AMC has cast Colm Meaney in Hell on Wheels, the network's western about building the transcontinental railroad. Meaney will play a businessman, meaning you can probably expect him to be a jerk. [Deadline]

· You might think Courtney Ford would get a break after playing Trinity's daughter on Dexter last season. She won't though. The actress has been cast on The Vampire Diaries as a grad student researching vampires. [EW]
