Reports: Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler Are Your Next American Idol Judges

jennifer_lopez_225.jpgIt looks like Nigel Lythgoe is getting his wish: Reports are ping-ponging around the Internet that Idol has hired Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler to replace Ellen DeGeneres and Simon Cowell (or Simon Cowell and Ellen DeGeneres) on the three-judge panel next season. Three judges? So who didn't make the cut?

Apparently Kara. TMZ claims that Kara DioGuardi has been fired from the show and will only return if the deal with J.Lo falls through -- a deal Deadline says has been in the works over a month and was orchestrated by Lopez's manager, Benny Medina.

As for Tyler's involvement: Unconfirmed reports say that he's been offered a seat as well. American Idol producers still want Elton John -- though considering the effusive nature with which John's publicist denied his client's involvement, they shouldn't hold their breath -- but will settle for the former Aerosmith frontman instead.

That leaves Randy Jackson as the only holdover from last season. Good job surviving the carnage, dawg!

  • Can we just buy-out Randy's contract, and keep Kara? I'm not saying she's the best judge ever, but Randy is HORRIBLE!

I haven't watched Idol since Kelly's season, but I would at least try to watch it as long as I can for Steven Tyler. He will either be horrible or amazing — nothing in between. I foresee lots of him breaking out in song, rambling about addiction and hitting on the girls.

I'm with you, Noah. Kara is infinitely better than the bass player. Can we get a lot less "Check it out, dawg" and a lot more constructive comments? Although J-low is worried to have another decent looking woman on the panel with her... And thanks for helping Ellen realize that she is in over her head.

It's official I'm not watching anymore.

I boycotted last season because "America" didn't pick Adam Lambert the year before. I now see no reason to go back (besides, my regular viewer sources said that Ellen was a bad match). FOX is still making money on this or it'd be moved to Bravo.

Putting Steve Tyler on that will just drop it to a all new level in my opinion.
