· Paul Giamatti will tackle more recent history for his next HBO project. The John Adams star is attached to play Nikita Khrushchev in the film K Blows Top. Based on the book of the same name -- itself a New York Daily News headline -- the story follows Khrushchev and his family on their 13-day tour of America in 1959, which ran into some trouble when they was denied the chance to go to Disneyland because of security concerns. (True.) Tom Hanks' Playtone production shingle will produce. Of course. [Variety]

· The Mary McCormack Fan Club can breathe easy this morning: USA has renewed In Plain Sight for two more seasons. [Variety]

· Amid a spoiler-heavy season seven preview of How I Met Your Mother with Vulture -- short story: expect it to be better than season six -- co-creator Craig Thomas revealed that Rachel Bilson (The O.C.) and Wayne Brady will be returning as guest stars in the fall. [Vulture]

· Simon Baker is getting a brother-in-law on The Mentalist. Kevin Rankin (the wheelchair bound Herc from Friday Night Lights) has been cast in the potentially recurring role. [EW]

· With just a week remaining until production begins again, the cast of The Big Bang Theory is still negotiating their fee with Warner Bros. TV. As of now, however, no deals are close. [Deadline]
