Tom Hiddleston Won't Deny Being the Villain in The Avengers

Marvel may have brought out all its heroes for the Comic-Con panel that debuted The Avengers, but what of its villains? The previous Marvel films have had a nasty habit of offing them, but there's one upcoming baddie who's practically guaranteed to survive his film and hotly rumored to terrorize The Avengers, too: Tom Hiddleston, who stars as Loki in Thor. At Comic-Con, I asked Hiddleston about it, point blank.

He smiled broadly and looked away. "I don't know if I'm allowed to tell you!" he said.

Of course, there are all sort of ways to field that question, and Hiddleston's response didn't exactly smack of a denial (plus, as Slashfilm noted, an Infinity Gauntlet prop revealed on the Comic-Con floor would lend credence to the idea of Loki bringing his villainy to The Avengers).

"That sounds like some sort of confirmation," I ventured.

Hiddleston laughed and again looked down, bashful. "OK, I'll leave it at that."

Has Marvel finally found a villain who's scarier than a Russian with a cockatoo fetish? We'll soon see.
