Comic-Con Liveblog: Sucker Punch
Zack Snyder's follow-up to Watchmen may feature about 100% less giant, glowing blue wang, but promises to be no less anticipated and exciting. You've seen the freshly released character photos, and now you can learn all about Snyder's all new girl-sploitation epic.
So dust off your Sailor Moon costume and oil up your broadsword as I liveblog the Sucker Punch Comic-Con Panel, starting NOW!
12:40 And we're off to the races as Zack Snyder takes to the stage.
12:43 This is Snyder's first movie based on his own original idea, rather than an adaptation like 300 or Watchmen.
12:44 Enter the ladies! Carla Gugino, Jamie Chung, Vanessa Hudgens, Jena Malone, and Emily Browning take their seats on the dais.
12:48 They roll a teaser trailer--Browning's character gets committed to a spooky-looking asylum and they somehow gain access to a world that looks like a tour through Comic-Con genre heaven -- we see glimpses of a ninja fight, a grimy steampunk battlefield, a futuristic robotic cityscape, and a sword-and-sorcery dragon fight. It looks. . .well, it looks INSANE, in the best possible way.
12:49 Snyder talks about how he wanted to a movie that starts off in an asylum and "plays with the concepts of consciousness and time." Sorry, Zack, but I think Inception ganked some of your mojo first.
12:57 The gals reveal that not only did they learn fight sequences, but all had to drill in learning burlesque dance numbers. Boobs and bullets in one movie -- this might be more even dude-erfiffic than The Expendables.
1:00 Asked to compare his mostly male cast of 300 and his mostly female cast of Sucker Punch, Snyder says the girls were just as balls-out crazy as the men were.
1:06 Snyder think the film might actually get a PG-13 rating, which would be a first for Snyder. The key is, he says, is to kill a lot of non-humans, like droids, orcs or zombie Nazis.
1:10 Snyder confirms that he is working on a 300 follow-up called Xerxes. I, for one, am relived to know that we finally have our 8-foot tall bronze drag queen emperor movie that we've been dying for.
1:18 They re-show the trailer and here are some additional things I caught -- zepplins, mechasuits, cyborgs, samurais and Jon Freakin' Hamm. And with that, the panel comes to a bloody awesome close.

How are you "live" blogging two separate events at the same time? (This AND Harry Potter?)
everything's happening in the same place 😉
Like [A] said, it's all taking place back-to-back-to-back in Hall H, here at Comic-Con. It's all very fast paced, but I'm an energizer bunny at heart.
Aristotle~ The gods too are fond of a joke.
Not that original -- I'm not even a fan of Sailor Moon, but made the connection about 5 seconds into the trailer....
is the movie sucker punch and sailor moon similar or the is it the same as sailor moon
