Watch James Franco Watch James Franco as General Hospital Meta Arc Comes Full Circle

JamesFrancoGHMeta225.jpgYesterday, General Hospital viewers were finally rewarded for staying tuned throughout James Franco's performance arty arc when the Milk actor stirred a heaping spoonful of meta into Port Charles. Click through to watch James Franco laugh and cringe while watching his own gratuitously dramatic General Hospital scenes... unless, of course, you are "bound by doubt and insecurity -- chains of consciousness that paralyze ordinary people."

For those of you who haven't been following the soap, Franco guest-stars as "Franco," a "graffiti artist whose canvas is murder." For the past few months, Franco has terrorized mobster Jason Morgan with a menacing smirk affixed to his face and a loopy revenge plot that involved posing as a homeless performance artist, channeling Tommy Wiseau, breaking character during a gangster standoff, and visiting his crazy mother (played by James Franco's real-life mother). On Thursday, General Hospital will end the arc with an episode that was taped at the Pacific Design Center in front of a live audience.

In many ways, soaps are superior to much of primetime. They're productivity is staggering, especially considering their meager, ever-shrinking budgets.
