Nicolas Cage To Play Flaming Mess Once More

ghostrider_225jpg.jpgHollywood's favorite kooky uncle, Nicolas Cage, announced on Craig Ferguson's show that he has just signed the contract to reprise the title role in a Ghost Rider sequel. Or is it just sequel-ish?

Even long-time schlockmeister Cage realized that 2007's Ghost Rider was sort of a crime against film-going humanity and even talked about rebooting it himself prior to his recent announcement. Reportedly, the new Ghost flick won't be a straight-up sequel, but more of standalone film that takes place roughly eight years after the first movie. And if all that isn't enough to give you the heebie-jeebies, Cage announced it would be directed by Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor, otherwise known as the writers of the execrable Jonah Hex. And isn't that scarier than any bike-riding, flame-headed demon from Hell?

Audiences around the world are already lining up to not purchase tickets for this.

  • The Winchester says:

Now it makes so much more sense, I thought the Crank guys were directing a sequel to Ghost WRITER with Nic Cage.

One more thing, to Dixon: "Cage announced it would be directed by Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor, otherwise known as the writers of the execrable Jonah Hex"
Pump the brakes, son, those are the MADMEN/GENIUSES who brought us the Crank series. Don't attribute the Jonah Hex awfulness squarely on their shoulders.

  • Tina Fleming says:

Um... the only thing that sounds good about this is the fact that the Crank guys are directing. I don't think they had anything to do with Hex?!!

  • Martini Shark says:

Maybe in this iteration they can justify the tens of millions in damage to the city GR would wreak each night he would go ride to fight evil.

  • Andy says:

I use to like Cage but he for me is one of the reasons why the first movie didn't work, so what hope is there for the second.

  • casting couch says:

Bad script, bad direction nuked the first Ghost Rider movie.
