Inception Grosses $3 Million From Midnight Screenings

inception_leo_225.jpgWhat do Inception and The Last Airbender have in common? They both sold a not-so-mind-blowing $3 million in midnight screening ticket sales, which means the Christopher Nolan film is on course for an opening weekend of around $40-$50 million. Maybe it won't be so difficult for Salt to gross more than Inception after all. [Hollywood Elsewhere]

Does this grim report take into account the disparity of the ticket prices for Inception and Airbender's 3D showings, or the number of screens Shyamalan's film opened with at midnight, or the fact that for Airbender, the $3 mil was consider unexpectedly strong, or the fact that Avatar opened with $3.5 mil midnight showings and it's tomatometer score looks a lot more like Inception's?
Because otherwise it would seem that Movieline has a collective stick up their ass about Nolan's flick and I can't speak for anyone else, but that kind of "tone" is certainly souring this longtime reader on the lot of you.

Airbender is a better movie than Inception. A gross injustice has occured.
