Fearless Improv Group Takes Star Wars to the NYC Subway
Some New Yorkers have all the luck. If they're not witness to Ghostbusters raiding the New York Public Library, then they're hanging around on the subway while a squad of Stormtroopers and Darth Vader accost Princess Leia. Seriously. Click through for the video evidence.
And blame Improv Everywhere, the seemingly ubiquitous comedy group who staged the deceptively simple-looking stunt on the IRT with Princess Leia boarding at 14th Street, the stormtroopers boarding at 23rd, and Darth Vader himself finally entering around 33rd -- all before reenacting Leia's apprehension scene from the original Star Wars. Which is fantastic, but: Why do these straphangers get to have all the fun? Why do I always wind up on the exact same freaking train every few days with a mariachi ensemble or some pockmarked, panhandling junkie or that gangly black dude who warbles "Ave Maria" the same way every time, despite having ostensibly practiced it since, oh, 2005? What gives?
Anyway, George Lucas should be suing the plastic pants off these guys any minute. And why not? He's probably bitter about drawing the doo-wop performers every trip. Can't blame him.

This is much funnier that the time I was in the dairy section of Ralph's and they tried to stage a scene from "Last Tango in Paris"...and less messy.
Ah. So maybe that was Jabba the Hut I was sitting next to on the F line the other evening.
That is a really good idea! They'd do that here except there's nowhere in the Food Emporium dairy aisle to get this raunchy. Space, premiums, etc.
Funnier than Bruno... and far less dickish!
