EXCLUSIVE: Jason Alexander on the Death of George Steinbrenner
For many people (namely, non-sports fans who loved Seinfeld), George Steinbrenner will always be inextricably tied to George Costanza, a zeitgeist-y association that kept him inside the relevant gates of pop culture long after he stopped firing Billy Martin. Sports dignitaries may have plenty to say about the man fondly known as Mr. Steinbrenner, but to us, it seems fitting to get a final word on his death from none other than the man who played Costanza himself, Jason Alexander:
"I met the real George Steinbrenner on only one occasion when he actually came and played himself on an episode of Seinfeld. He seemed to really enjoy himself. I did not get to know him but the fact that he allowed himself and his beloved team to be satirized on our show is an indication to me of his true character. He was certainly a legend and I am pleased to have been associated with him, even if only in fiction. My sympathies to his family, friends and fans."
Below, watch a scene from the episode Alexander was referring to (and always remember, "Singles tables are for losers"):

Hope he's enjoying a calzone or two in heaven. RIP
With all due respect or GS's family ... who CARES? Baseball? Am I a freakin' CHILD that I should be concerned about such things when the country is falling apart? Gimme a freakin break!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WHAT?! WHAT?! I'll put you in a fucking rose garden you c#@t! You understand that? Because I'm capable of it!
If you say "who cares", relating to the death of an icon and one of the best baseball team owners of this and the last century, why are you here? Go converse with other like minded people on your conspiracy theory forums and "how to survive the apocalypse" forums. Have fun.
Video doesn't work properly. The sound is messed up at 0:45.
who cares... my next door neighbor died and no one gave a fuuhh... lol baseballs gay anyways. lololololol ps thats what old people do, they die.
My condolences to George Steinbrenner's family.
I especially remember George Steinbrenner from the 1970s. He was always interesting. A true lover of the game of baseball and his famous New York Yankees. I always liked George Steinbrenner, even if I am a true Cincinnati Reds fan.
I also always enjoyed watching the reruns of Seinfeld, where George Costanza (Jason Alexander) works for and talks with the George Steinbrenner character.
George Steinbrenner will be missed by many. He is already missed. Thanks for the memories, George.
From: A true fan of baseball. A Cincinnati Reds fan.
The first line of this article is pretty accurate. When I first heard that he died, George Costanza was the first thing I thought of. Sorry, not a baseball fan but I do love Seinfeld.
I never saw that episode with the real Steinbrenner before. Too bad that upload's audio is out of sync. Ah, well. Nobody lives forever. Although, I'm working on changing that rule.
I like the episode when the Boss fired Buck Showalter before it actually happened in real life.
I can't beleave he past so fast. It just shows you how fast we can pass through this world. What we do and who whe are are the most important things to some people and I can see why.
Who do you think was the greatest man who ever lived? I know it was Jesus Christ. On the short 33 years he was on this earth, he did, truely, the greatest things anyone did and showed, on a small scale, what is going to happen, in the future. He raised the Dead! Healed lame, sick, dumb, blind people! The way he taught was surely the greatest way anyone taught, ever! (my spelling sucks!)
The point I want to make is, Be sure of the way you walk, talk, and represent in whatever you do, because the one who created you, is watching. And the last thing you want to do is hurt the ones you love. Becacuse wheather you know it or not, he does not want to see anyone hurt, but wants to see everyone gain everlasting life! EVERLASTING LIFE! Some thought, eh?
Who is George Steinbrenner??????
Gee, thanks...I guess. Really, though, send a thank-you card to Mel for me. I guess my outburst was contextually out of place as Mr Eliot's idiocy, though. No?
Some of you people have some real issues!!
This man brought something to both cities. Heres to you Georgie RIP.
Why even bother comment then? Your lack of empathy for others, your neighbor and Mr. Steinbrenner included, is not an issue to people reading these comments. It doesn't matter what you care about; nobody cares about YOU or what you think.
This is sad....He was good for baseball and the Yankees...also I must admit I liked him more on Sinfield working with George Costanza ..they were very funny together...ohhh yeah...Julia Lewis dryfus is the most attractive woman on earth....
God bless those who understand a life
The man was, is, and forever will be a F@@@@@@ A@@H@@@...I hope hime and his whole family rot in hell... Let them all be fish food in the Jersey river...Good riddence to foul, rotten, stinkey garbage
For someone with a poor command of grammar and basic spelling, you sure have a lot of disgusting hate in you, you "stinkey" person you.
If people had been created correctly no one would have to heal them and create "miracles"
No, he raised "SOME of the dead, SOME of the lame, dumb and blind people" Why didn't he do it for ALL the sick people? Any why for only 33 years? Why didn't he just stay on earth forever, and use his use his superpowers to eliminate war. suffering, hunger, hate and evil.
he really was a piece of shit now he's a flaming piece of shit and fuck all the yankees and all there faggot fans
