What's On: FNL FTW!
It's a day of jubilation for Friday Night Lights fans who yelled "Touchdown!" during yesterday's Emmy nominations. Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton both scored nods, and they hope to ruin Bryan Cranston and Glenn Close's chances of repeat wins. I'm skeptical, but we should accept this small victory. Also: Wife Swap is new tonight, that may mean I'm excited, and I'm sorry.
Wife Swap [ABC, 8 PM]
I'm only posting this because I accidentally watched a two-hour episode of Trading Spouses on CMT last night, and it ruined my life with touching moments. Then I looked up the Taoist family featured in the episode, and they claim the producers made up every single thing that happened. In other words, know that Wife Swap is, as Sinead O'Connor once said, "a big bunch of junkie lies," but enjoy it in that way. Tonight: a family that's preparing for the 2012 apocalypse.
Friday Night Lights [NBC, 8 PM]
Eric is told to change his coaching style, and Riggins puts Tami in a difficult position. This sounds like it could be more of a plot-forwarding episode than a shocking season-maker, but who cares! FNL is Emmy-nominated! We celebrate tonight.
Flashpoint [CBS, 9 PM]
The crew tries to catch an elusive gunman who's running around in a historic arena. I liked this storyline the first time when it was called Charade.
Miracle [FX, 8 PM]
Kurt Russell starts in this trite but likable film about the 1980 U.S. Olympic hockey team, their unfathomable defeat of the Russian team, and their gold medal-winning performance against Finland. The title is inspired, of course, by announcer Al Michaels' famous line, "Do you believe in miracles?" Uh, Al, some of us have believed in miracles since the advent of boxed cake mix. Catch up.
