Mel Gibson Out at WME as Hate Tapes Released
And for your Friday news dump: Those nasty racist comments Mel Gibson spat over the phone to his ex-girlfriend are officially live. And they're... angry? In related news, Ari Emanuel has made it officially known that he will not have Gibson on his roster any longer -- officially, unofficially or otherwise. Raise your hand if you didn't see this coming. Hey! I can't see those hands!
The troubled actor-director -- currently embroiled in an apocalyptic break-up and the "pack of n***ers" scandal that comes along with it -- can now finally be heard on tape blowing up in spectacular fashion at ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva. Dark as it is, it's tough to determine where Gibson's rage crosses the line into despair; there's something lost in his voice, or maybe it's just him catching his breath before the next sortie. Either way it's toxic and will not necessarily enliven your Friday night social rituals. Unless you are a lonely neo-Nazi, in which case off you go.
Curious timing, then, with word that GIbson is exiting WME. Of course, he suffered an arguably more crushing blow last week when his long-time agent Ed Limato passed away after a long battle with lung disease. The former ICM titan came along with the William Morris furniture after its merger with Endeavor, bringing his fistful of A-listers along with him. This despite Emanuel's vocal condemnation of Gibson after his anti-Semitic rant in Malibu in 2006, a bit of history that reportedly ended up with Gibson "not officially represented" by WME at the time of Limato's death. Interesting. Nikki Finke also notes that the star's departure is not officially attributable to Limato's passing, but rather the publicity fallout from his Grigorieva bust-up. The release of the tapes is not cited, but you know what to do with two and two.

When I heard the 'rant' on tv, all I could think of is a 6 year old child, jumping up and down with fists clenched having a good old tantrum. He is going to have a stroke if he doesnt get himself in check. Spewing garbage out of his mouth just to relieve what ever anger was right "THERE" at the very edge of his control. Hard life to be such a talented actor, slowly falling apart at the seams when his life doesn't go exactly as he wants it. I think that most of the people he was insulting are smarter than he is, to be able to shrug of his bad manners.
Forget about him, lets talk about that hotdog eating contest. Those guys ate so much they had to go take the biggest crap you ever saw, and plugged up the toilet so bad that everybody else had to take a crap in the urinal. LOL ROF OMFG !!!!!!

Mel needs our prayers right now...He is in a spiritual war ..People just need to see the truth. Were there is good there is also evil..Mel was loved by all...Then he made the movie "Passion of the Christ" A Chrisitain movie that grossed $610,000,000 worldwide ... That just really made the ole "devil" come after him and work overtime. What he did was horrible.But...the devil is powerful just look at the world now...We took God out of everything and America is standing at the gates of hell...God Bless Us All..
Leave Mel alone. He's not a racist. Just venting. I hear guys talk like this all of the time at work. But they're not famous, so nobody cares. Due to the fact that she taped him while he was unaware of that fact, she is a "C---". Mel Gibson will be around for another 20 years and we will all forget about this BS.
I would just like to say that the conversation you folks just had was down to earth and totally real. I don't have the desire to hear people (or read) about people spewing off at the mouth about things they don't understand. Every comment made was pretty well thought out, and relatively concise. Nobody freaked out and threatened anyone else and nobody pulled a hissy fit. Bravo.
I for one am going to give Mel Gibdpm the benefit of the doubt for much of the same reasons you folks mentioned.

Mack, it's not just that he used racist language. He actually told the mother of his child that he hoped she'd be raped. That's a level of ugliness that it's hard to accept.

I think it would be best if all of us would take personal responsibility for our fear, pain, anger, and hatred instead of projecting it onto Mel or any other person in the media spotlight. There is no perfect human being on this planet. If we would all love and forgive ourselves first, then we could love and forgive others for their humanness. How would you like to live under the public spotlight and have all of your "sins" broadcast across the world? I wouldn't. Give Mel and others a break. The world would be a better place if we quit throwing the anger back at "human beings".

"My wife is going to hell because she is not Catholic." Who appointed him God. I think Mel is farther down that path. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbors wife. Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vein-which he does quite often. He has a long way to go to be a good Christian.

It's not just that he said the N word, like THAT, but also the RAGE, hatred, and abuse with which he speaks to the mother of one of his children. Makes you wonder how he treated his wife all of those years.
And we know that lot's of people treat their "loved ones" badly, but to have a recording of it like this, circulating is so damaging.

Martin Lawrence didn't work for a LOOOOONG time. Also, it was clear that something went very wrong with him. People don't tend to kick someone (even a celebrity) when they hit bottom (psychologically.)
Tom Cruise doesn't do ANYTHING without planning it out first, so it was weird that he thought the American public would buy that publicity stunt.
This is not about the N word, it's the context with which he uses it. Assuming (in his rage) that N***s go around in "packs" looking to rape women. This is the mother of one of his children. I've always liked Mel, but after the Jewish remarks, "sugartits" and this, he clearly has a problem and will have a difficult time finding ANYONE to work with him. Also, there's a huge difference in hearing about what someone said, and hearing it on tape.
I can't imagine that most black people are offended by what he said as much as people in general are in shock that he has so much hate and rage inside of him. It's scary and sad (and a little funny.)

Benefit of the doubt? What doubt? One incident is not that revealing, but over and over and over and over again this "peckerwood" actor/director has shown us all who he really is.... You have the right to spend your money on his movies...hell, you can represent him now that William Morris has let him go.
