Hollywood Ink: Channing Tatum, Fox Shot Into Space
· Channing Tatum and Ridley Scott are attached to seemingly every other project in Hollywood, so it's not quite surprising that their paths should cross on Ion. The sci-fi script about a man who travels between planets and dimensions in search of his reincarnated lover has settled at Fox, where Tatum is booked to star and Scott will co-produce. Meanwhile, the studio that brought you Avatar has also optioned Ray Bradbury's classic The Martian Chronicles, which was somehow on the market. Had I known I probably would have bid on that sucker myself. [THR, LAT]
Another gangster gets his big-screen close-up, the Weinsteins hock 200 films, and more Hollywood Ink after the jump.
· Director Wayne Kramer (Running Scared) has pinned down Pretty Boy Floyd as his possible next film, depending on how things go for the Joel Silver flick he's also attached to at the moment. Keep hope alive for this one, though, a biopic of the legendary gangster that has Kramer waxing visionary: "My approach is to bring 21st century style and energy to Kevin Bernhardt's meticulously researched screenplay without sacrificing the verisimilitude of the period or over-sensationalizing the characters themselves." Whatever, just as long as he doesn't make another Public Enemies. [THR]
· You might have heard The Weinstein Company has restructured to wipe away $450 million in debt. What you didn't hear is that TWC offloaded nearly 200 titles in their library -- including The Road and Vicky Cristina Barcelona -- to Goldman Sachs as part of the deal. TWC will "manage" the films in the meantime and has the option to buy them back starting in 2016. [Variety]
· Dermot Mulroney will direct a biopic of the Liberian soccer star-turned-politician George Weah. "It's got politics, war, love and soccer," Mulroney said of the story as you skipped to the next bullet. [THR]
· Jessica Chastain is the latest actress to board the Civil Rights Era drama The Help, joining Emma Stone, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Viola Davis. [THR]
· Fred Ward will play Danny McBride's father in the upcoming comedy 30 Minutes or Less. Inspired! [Variety]

I still can't tell the difference between Channing Tatum and Sam Worthington. Hollywood magic!
This is kind of off point, but has anybody ever optioned the book "Earth Abides"? It would seem to me to be the perfect movie for the times, but, what do I know.
